HUTB Holds Grand Opening Ceremony for Undergraduate Class of 2025

Ride the wave of the new era, chase your dream in HUTB. On the morning of September 19, the opening ceremony for undergraduate class of 2025 was grandly held at the track-and-field ground of north campus. HUTB Party Secretary and CAE Academician Chen Xiaohong, President Huang Xin, Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin and all other chief leaders, senior professors and members of HUTB Party Committee attended the ceremony. Party and administrative leaders of secondary schools, leaders of relevant functional departments, alumni representatives, director of Student Affairs Office, freshmen counselors and all undergraduates of Class 2025, were present. The ceremony was presided over by President Huang Xin.
The opening ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. All teachers and students stood up to sing the national anthem and watch the rising national flag.
Later, Chen Xiaohong, on behalf of HUBT, presented prizes to five outstanding freshmen who won the "Freshman Scholarship", including Xing Zhuoyu from School of Literature & Journalism, Cai Yingying from School of Finance, Liu Runyue from School of Economy & Trade, Liu Ziyi and Zhang Jingjing from School of Business Administration.
Chen Xiaohong welcomed all the 2025 freshmen, and delivered a wonderful speech entitled "So Young, So Cool, So Beautiful!"
Chen Xiaohong pointed out that HUTB, with more than 70 years' history, following the strategic goal of "Three Admissions, Three Highlands" and adhering to the philosophy of "new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" integrated with science courses, stepped up its efforts to build a distinctive, innovative first-class business university with the number of faculty departments increasing from 10+ to 23 and the number of scientific research institutions from dozens to hundreds; made unprecedented efforts to build a contingent of high-level talents; had in-depth cooperation with more and more well-known enterprises and public institutions; and built a "Happy and Safe" campus with a number of photo spots provided for you to drink "TeaBeauty" and taste western food...
Concerning "how to define youth in campus?" "how should you display youth?", Chen Xiaohong shared a few ones with the students.
First, Keep one original aspiration. We should stay true to our original aspiration, spend one day like two days and make every effort to continuously hit a record high in our study, to constantly gain overwhelming energy from thevastseaofbooks, and to temper ourselves through all kinds of competitions and practices!
Second, raise high one banner. We should aspire to become more proud, confident, and assured in your identity as Chinese people rather than become an exquisite egoist or indifferent egotist, bear in mind the "TwoOverallStrategies" and the country's most fundamental interests, keep pace with the times and our motherland, always be ready to build a better nation and fulfill our oath that "With us making PRC stronger,please rest assuredmotherland and people! China have a better future!"
Third, follow one path. We should keep self-reliance firmly in mind, unswervingly follow the path of self-reliance, dare to be the first, vigorously carry forward the spirit ofscientists in the new era, adheres to problem-orientation and demand-orientation, foster critical thinking and constantly enhance our innovation capacity, so as to better serve the country and people with our knowledge and innovation!
Fourth, stick to one baseline. We should draw courage from the realistic and pragmatic approach to uphold the truth and correct mistakes, derive wisdom to understand gain and loss, and get strength to follow the law and general trend. We should base on the new development stage, enhance the awareness of opportunities and risks, remain sensitive to changes, respond to them with well-judged actions and be ready to adjust the approach when necessary, so as to better take advantage of the historical trend and make historic achievements!
Fifth, learn one lesson well. We should combine history with reality, spirit and grow-up, and carry forward the Party's great spirit of upholding truth and ideals, staying true to its founding mission, fighting without fear of danger, and meeting the people's expectations. We should also carry forward the traditions from revolutionary times, maintain the brave spirit of the revolutionaries, and march toward a brand new journey.
Sixth, strength one power. We should boldly imagine in the interdisciplinary integration of humanities, arts and science, and release our imagination when cultivating morality, intellectual and physical ability, aesthetic sensibility and work skills.
Seventh, realize one dream. We should always follow the Party and make ongoing efforts to realize our great dream as soon as possible!
Chen Xiaohong said that HUTB is a good place for study, innovation & entrepreneurship and chasing dream. Here, "all for students, for all students, for students of all". The students are expected to fly higher and farther! Pursuing excellence and striving to be a first-class university, HUTB cultivates high-quality talents with global vision, patriotism, professional quality and benevolent heart, who are strong, dauntless, innovative and pragmatic. It's hoped that the students can always keep in mind the university motto "Sincerity & Credibility; Pragmatism & Innovation" and spirit of "Virtue, Erudition, Practice & Self-reliance", be aspiring, kind, confident, knowledgeable, upright and strong; that they can study hard, illuminate others like a light and embrace a bigger world with a bigger picture! Finally, she wish the students take excellence, diligence and civilization as a habit, spend a wonderful time in HUTB and meet better selves!
Hu Yuanyuan from Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, Yu Xiaoyang from School of Public Administration and Human Geography, Bai Yunguo from School of International Business, and Zeng Yi from School of Business Administration, as representatives of undergraduates, recited to express their love for HUTB, their yearning for college life and their ambition of striving. They said that they would study hard in this ocean of knowledge, paradise of learning and lighthouse that illuminates the future, devote themselves, celebrate the centenary of CPC with practical actions and make due contributions to rejuvenating the Chinese nation!
Mr. Huang Xingyao, President of Changsha Alumni Association, Chairman and General Manager of Hunan Tongzhou Commerce and Trade Co., Ltd, made a speech on behalf of outstanding alumni. He said that he was very pleased and honored to welcome the 2025 freshmen to beautiful and powerful HUTB on behalf of more than 100,000 alumni. In the next four years, excellent teachers represented by Academician Chen Xiaohong will accompany and guide you to learn and grow. He sent a message to all freshmen: "The new college life is about to start. I hope you will study hard with the spirit of hardworking ox, make a difference with the spirit of pioneer ox and serve the country with the spirit of willing ox.
On behalf of the faculty, Professor Li Xiaolong of School ofComputer Science & Information Engineering welcomed the freshmen of Class 2025. He put forward several hopes to the students with the title of "set sail for dreams": dedicated to learning, take pleasure in the pursuit of scientific knowledge and the pursuit of truth, attach importance to the process of innovation and exploration regardless of outcome, and become innovative talents; actively devote themselves to application innovation, apply the knowledge to practice, and find, study and solve problems in practice, so as to benefit the society and folks with their own knowledge; maintain the curiosity and desire to explore the mysteries of nature, keep pace with the times, constantly improve their critical thinking ability, develop scientific methodology, set ambitious goals, and strive to become leaders in their respective fields.
Afterwards, all chief leaders, senior professors and Party committee members granted the university badges to the freshmen representatives on the rostrum. Other freshmen wore the university badges by themselves. The teachers put on the brand-new university badges for the students, and tidy up their clothes. This was the first lesson that teachers gave to the students, that is, love the university, dress properly and be an excellent HUTB student.
Finally, Wang Wen from Finance Class 2102 of School of Finance led all undergraduate freshmen to raise their right fist and solemnly swear: I will be loyal to the country, abide by the law, and take integrity as the best policy; I will have the entire motherland in mind and shoulder my responsibility; I will study hard and make every effort to forge ahead; I will be civilized and polite, and take actual actions; I'm grateful to my parents and determine to be a talent; and I will cherish the time and live up to expectations. All in all, let's study hard and increase our knowledge to realize our dreams with excellence, diligence and civilization. The opening ceremony for undergraduate class of 2025 ended successfully.
