On the morning of August 24, a delegation led by Guo Gong, Party Secretary and Director of Changsha Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, paid an investigationtour to HUTB. The meeting was held in Conference Room 1211 in Economic Management Complex. The meeting was attended by Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and Academician, Vice President Liu Guoquan, Vice President Yi Mianyang, and Song Xinhe, Deputy Director of Changsha Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. Heads of the office, high-tech department and achievements department of Changsha Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, as well as heads of the Party Committee Office and Principal Office, the Development Planning Division, the Academic Affairs Division, the Scientific Research Administration Division, the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Academician Office participated in the meeting.
Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and Academician, extended warm welcome to the delegationled by Secretary Guo Gong. She introduced the recent development of the university. She said that the “Three Rises” target set by the university during the 13thFive-Year Plan period has been basically achieved, and that all the teachers and students are forging ahead towards the strategic target of “Three Progresses, Three Highlands” set by the university at the first representative conference of CPC, with the university witnessing rapid development in various causes. She said that the enrollment score has been on rise for several consecutive years, and that the graduate employment rate is higher than other colleges and universities in Hunan province. Practising the concept of integrating “new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses” with science courses, she said, the university takes new technology, new business format, new model and new industry serving new generation information technology as the focus of development, and has cultivated professional research teams in the cutting-areas of big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, VR and digital twin, obtained the approval of high-quality research platform, yielded fruitful initial results, and fostered characteristics and strengths inside the province and beyond. Secretary Chen also introduced the implementation and feedback of the jointly signed proposal titled “Proposal of Supporting Hunan in Creating National Pilot Zone for Innovative Application of Artificial Intelligence” submitted in the capacity of a member of the committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. She said that the university is ready to make greater contributions to the development of intelligence industry in Changsha.
Secretary Guo Gong appreciated Academician Chen Xiaohong and the university for supporting the development of science and technology in Changsha. He introduced the three-year action plan to build national pilot area for innovative development of new generation artificial intelligence in Changsha, the development concept of “3+2+N”, and the layout and progress in the construction of artificial intelligence innovation platform. He said that under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong, HUTB has made progress in artificial intelligence and big data, providing a good opportunity for promoting the development of artificial intelligence and computer industries in Changsha. He stressed that both sides have broad prospects for cooperation in laboratory construction, achievement transformation and talent training. Secretary Guo Gong also put forward preliminary proposals on the construction of Innovative Alliance. The participants had exchanges and discussions on specific work.
After the meeting, the delegated led by Secretary Guo Gong visited HUTB’s National Basic Science Center laboratory, provincial key laboratory and engineering research center, and spoke highly of relevant achievements.
