HUTB Holds the 1st Training Session of "Lectures for Cadres"

In order to further implement the spirit of the first Party congress of HUTB, press ahead with the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, implement the work requirements of "strengthening work style construction, changing study style, improving quality and seeking innovation", further improve the conduct of cadres and their ability to perform duties, HUTB held the 1st training session of "Lectures for Cadres" in the Lecture Hall, Economic Management Complex (main venue) and Yingcai Lecture Hall, Library (live broadcast branch venue) on July 6. Chen Xiaohong, HUTB Party Secretary and CAE Academician, Huang Xin, Vice Party Secretary and President, Xiao Xiaoqin, Vice Party Secretary, and all other chief leaders and members of the Party committee of HUTB, attended the training session. Six academician experts and famous entrepreneurs were invited to give thematic trainings, namely Fan Guobin, CAE Academician and former Assistant Chief Engineer of China Academy of Engineering Physics, Liu He, CAE Academician and Professor of Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, Tan Yuejin, former Dean of School of Information Systems and Management, National University Of Defense Technology and Major General, Zhao Shuming, Senior Professor of Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences, Honorary Dean of Business School, and Dean of Xingzhi Academy, Nanjing University, Liu Feixiang, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited, and Tang Xiuguo, Director and President of Sany Group Co., Ltd. All cadres at or above the deputy section level, Party branch secretaries, organizers, leaders of departments, heads of teaching and research offices, instructors and new teachers recruited since 2018 totaling more than 1,000 people participated in the training. The opening ceremony was chaired by Xiao Xiaoqin.
At the opening ceremony, Chen Xiaohong mobilized the personnel for the training. She pointed out that "Lectures for Cadres" is an important measure to further implement the unified deployment of the Central Committee and Hunan Provincial Party Committee, deepen the study and education of Party history, and deepen the study of the spirits of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on July 1. It's also an important measure to implement the spirit of the Party congress of HUTB, further strengthen the ideals and convictions of cadres, improve their ideological consciousness, enhance their working ability and professional skills, lead all cadres of HUTB to unify their thoughts and concentrate their efforts to start a new journey of building a distinctive, innovative first-class university of technology and business,
Chen requested that all cadres should deepen the understanding of significance of learning and training, apply what they have learned to promote the development of the university, and implement strict discipline to show the good image of HUTB. She stressed that cadres should focus on the Party's innovated theories, accelerate knowledge update, optimize the knowledge structure and broaden horizons; be good at learning and thinking combined with the overall situation, the specific problems, the responsibilities and their own situation, take learning and thinking as a process of transformation, cultivation and improvement; do by learning and learn by doing, be able to apply what they have learned and constantly improve their quality and ability to perform duties to keep their thought, ability and actions up with the requirements of Central Committee and provincial Party committee, with the pace of the Times and with the development needs of the university.
The training session was divided into three stages, chaired by Chen Xiaohong, Huang Xin and Xiao Xiaoqin respectively. Six academician experts and famous entrepreneurs gave thematic trainings successively.
On the topic of "The Spirit of Two Bombs' - Our Patriotism", Academician Fan Guobin introduced the lofty cause, glorious history and brilliant achievements of China Academy of Engineering Physics, especially the spirit, connotation and essence of the spirit of "Two Bombs and One Satellite". He pointed out that the spirit of "Two Bombs" closely reflects the patriotism, dedication, hard work and plain living, collaborated breakthrough, practicality and creativity, exhibits distinctive characteristics of the Times and is the refinement and sublimation of the fine traditions and spirits of the predecessors. He also introduced in detail the touching deeds and great contributions of a number of two bomb fathers such as Zhou Guangzhao, Deng Jiaxian, Guo Yonghuai, Chen Nengkuan and Yu Min. He called on everyone to thoroughly understand the lofty spirit of "contented to be a nobody, I pledge myself todothethingsnobodycanimagine", and set up the good style of be pioneering, taking active efforts and making devotions.
Academician Liu He elaborated on the theme of "Daqing Spirit Shines Forever". He pointed out that "Daqing spirit" is an important part of CPC's spiritual pedigree, and its basic connotations are "patriotism, entrepreneurship, practicality and dedication." "Iron-man spirit" highly summarizes Comrade Wang Jinxi's lofty thoughts and excellent characters, and closely reflects the spirit of Chinese oil workers. It's a concrete and personalized embodiment of "Daqing spirit", embodying the patriotic spirit of "sharing the country's burdens and striving for the nation." He also deeply interpreted the fine traditions formed in Daqing battle: strengthen the Party's leadership and ideological and political construction; strengthen the building of leading groups and leading bodies; rely wholeheartedly on the working class; attach importance to the role of sci-tech and intellectuals; and properly deal with national, collective and individual interests.
Major General Tan Yuejin talked about his thinking on the discipline construction of universities in the big data era from three aspects, namely "inspiration from Qian Xuesen's creative education philosophy in the big data era", "comprehensive promotion of 'four new' discipline construction by the Ministry of Education", and "thinking on strengthening the discipline construction of universities under the new situation". He pointed out that discipline construction is an important content for a university to promote its long-term development based on its own characteristics, development orientation, regional advantages and industry background, etc, and is play a leading role. Therefore, discipline construction should be promoted through the innovative development of characteristics, integration and connotations. He stressed that Qian Xuesen's creative education philosophy of "combining science, engineering and liberal arts, strengthening the foundation and applying to the engineering" is an important guideline for the discipline construction of universities in the big data era.
Centered on "How to Become an Excellent Manager", Professor Zhao Shuming shared his experiences in the study, teaching, scientific research and management of human resource discipline, introduced the life stories and academic achievements of Peter F. Drucker, a famous managerialist and his professional tutor, and recommended Peter F. Drucker's classic, The Effective Executive. He elaborated on Peter Drucker's five key elements of effective management: time management, paying attention to dedication, leveraging strengths, prioritizing matters, and effective decision-making. He hoped that university education administrators could fully absorb the scientific management concepts and knowledge, and apply them to the education management practice of universities, so as to improve work efficiency and promote the better development of the universities.
On the topic of "Looking at Intelligent Manufacturing from the Enterprise", Chairman Liu Feixiang took China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited as an example, which has realized localization of high-end underground engineering equipment, managed to break the long-term technological monopoly by foreign companies through independent innovation, and is striving to conquer the research and application of basic science and cutting-edge technologies and "key & core" technologies. He introduced in detail the functions and applications of a series of knock-out products, such as heading machines, tunnel drilling and blasting equipment, etc, in "key & core" technologies, cutting-edge technologies and intelligent manufacturing. He hoped that the discipline construction and talent cultivation in universities can follow the forefront of sci-tech development closely, so as foster more outstanding professionals urgently needed by the country and the industry.
Focusing on "Quality Changes the World", President Tang Xiuguo introduced a series of development achievements of Sany Group in "digitalization and internationalization", "T2M" and "construction industrialization" through its establishment, construction and development history. He pointed out that in the historical course of realizing the great dream of rejuvenating the Chinese nation, the 4th Industrial Revolution will redefine products, disrupt technologies and reshape business models, and sticking to product quality will be the way for enterprises to survive in the long term. He stressed that in the context of such great times, we should, while striving to realize our dreams, be grateful and take concrete actions to repay the country, society and people.
This training session is based on the cutting-edge and is rich in connotations. Six speakers explained the profound theories in simple languages combined with the actual cases, and have received warm applause from the audience. All participants said that this training helped them to further understand the profound connotations of "spirit of Two Bombs" and "Daqing spirit", know about the importance of intelligent energization and product quality, and grasp the scientific approach of discipline construction and education management in universities. They will, taking this training as an opportunity, thoroughly implement the spirit of the Party congress of HUTB according to the requirements and deployments of HUTB Party committee, make solid progress in "strengthening work style construction, changing study style, improving quality and seeking innovation", further cultivate learning habits, consolidate the management foundation and improve the management level, so as to make due contributions to the development of the university.
