HUTB Holds Oath-taking Ceremony for New Party Members

On the afternoon of June 18, HUBT held an oath-taking ceremony for new Party members in the Lecture Hall, Economic Management Complex. The ceremony was chaired by Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin, attended by Chen Xiaohong, HUTB Party Secretary and CAE Academician, Xiao Xiaoqin, Vice Party Secretary, and Gan Dejian, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of HUTB, and participated by all new Party members, leaders and staff of CPC Organization Department, Graduate School, Party Committee Student Affairs Department, etc., as well as vice Party secretaries and student Party branch secretaries of secondary schools.

Prior to the ceremony, all Party members sang in chorus the song, I Swear, expressing their deep feelings for CPC and singing the main melody of staying true to the original aspiration and always following the Party. Then, they sang the enthusiastic and exciting song, The Internationale, in chorus. The bright red Party flag fluttering in the hall witnessed the official opening of the oath-taking ceremony.

Under the leadership of Chen Xiaohong, all new Party members took a solemn oath to join the Party: "I volunteer to join the Communist Party of China, uphold the Party's platform and the Party constitution, perform the Party member duties, implement the Party's decisions, strictly abide by Party discipline, keep the secret of our Party, stay loyal to the Party, work actively, strive for the cause of communism to the end, be ready to sacrifice everything for the Party and the people at any time and never defect from the Party." The oath rang through the hall, expressing the unlimited loyalty of Party members to the Party, to the country and to the people, and reflecting their confidence and determination to follow the Party unswervingly.

Guo Chao, a teacher of Personnel Division, and Cai Wenjun, student of Digital Economy Academician Excellent Class 1901, School of Science, made speeches respectively as representatives of new Party members. Guo Chao said, "a communist is an identity, but also a responsibility. I will fulfill my oath under the Party flag with practical actions, move closer to the Party organization, constantly give play to the vanguard and exemplary role of a communist, strive to do practical work for the faculty and contribute my strength to the development of the university." Cai Wenjun believed that, "'a communist' is a glorious and noble title, is the symbol of a vanguard fighter and the embodiment of noble personality. As student Party members, we should constantly cultivate our Party spirit, strengthen the theoretical foundation, and develop the original aspiration and mission of serving the people."

Chen Xiaohong pointed out that CPC has traveled a glorious journey over 100 years of struggle since its founding in 1921. Over the past 100 years, our Party has united with the people and led them in a tenacious struggle to transform the poor and backward old China into a new China that is increasingly prosperous and strong. The Chinese nation, which has endured so much since modern times, has made a great leap forward from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong. The founding of CPC is epoch-making, while the founding of new China, the implementation of reform and opening up, and the realization of great rejuvenation are world-shaking. Generation after generation of communists have stayed true to their original aspiration, fulfilled their mission with actions, and demonstrated their sense of responsibility with hard work, thereby write a magnificent epic. She stressed that in the year in which China embarks on the great journey toward all-round modernization and in which Hunan vigorously implements the strategy of "Three Highlands, Four New Missions", HUTB strives to realize the goal of "Three Admissions, Three Highlands" and build a distinctive, innovative first-class university of technology and business, Party members in the new era are at the best period of development of the Chinese nation since modern times, facing the rare chance to make achievements and the mission of the times given to an extraordinary man.

On behalf of HUTB Party Committee, Chen put forward four requirements to all Party members. First, love the country and the Party, build noble ideals. Keep in mind the admission oath and stay true to the original aspiration, further strengthen the political, ideological and affective identity of the CPC and socialism with Chinese characteristics, ignite the fire of ideals and convictions, integrate their studies and careers into the great cause of making unremitting efforts for the motherland and the people. Second, cultivate morality, build up behavior and stick to the correct course. Consciously develop and practice the core socialist values, be good at drawing moral nourishment from traditional Chinese virtues, learn moral demeanor from heroes and role models of the Times, feel the moral strength from the study of Party history, maintain a positive attitude toward life and encourage excellent conducts. Strengthen the sense of rules, hold due revere and hold a beating ruler in hand, always keep a clear mind, observe the rules of the university, abide by the Party's rules and discipline at high standard and always stay on the right course in life. Third, work hard and refine their abilities. Keep eager for knowledge and truth, study hard, get down to earth, lay a solid foundation and dare to pursue excellence in climbing the peak of knowledge. Always combine learning with practice, guide practice with theoretical study while promote study with practice, and set an example of applying the knowledge and being realistic. Fourth, make innovations and creations, dare to shoulder the mission of the Times. Be good at discovering and diligent in thinking, cultivate the spirit of innovation, inspire the power of innovation, entrepreneurship and creation with the unique vitality, passion and imagination of the youth. Broaden the cognitive horizon, improve their thinking ability and break through the limitation of thoughts. Learn to see the world from China and China from the world, expand our "coordinate system", have a bigger picture and be a leader in the new era.

Chen Xiaohong also sent a message to the young Party members, hoping that they will take excellence, diligence and civilization as a habit, set great ambition, be virtuous, become talented and bear great responsibilities. They will become talents with global vision, patriotism, professionalism and benevolence, play an exemplary role in politics, study and life, work together to promote the realization of the goal of "Three Admissions, Three Highlands", make new and greater contributions to serving the motherland and the people, pay tribute to the centenary of the Party with outstanding achievements, continuously sublimate the value of life, and write a hymn of excellent Communist Party members with practical actions.

At this point, the oath-taking ceremony for new Party members is completed successfully. The Party members will stay true to their original aspirations, dare to shoulder the mission, bear in mind the tenet of serving the people wholeheartedly, continue to carry forward the Party's fine traditions, work hard in their respective positions, give full play to the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members and continuously transform the firm communist ideals and convictions into powerful force to overcome difficulties, so as to live up to the title of Communist Party members.
