HUTB College Student Tennis Team Wins Third Place of Women’s Group in Central China Division of 25th China College Students Tennis Championship

From June 5 to 6, the Central China division of the 25thChina College Students Tennis Championship hosted by the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and organized by Wuhan Sports University (WHSU) was held in WHSU. The event attracted more than 200 athletes from 40 delegations from 22 colleges in Hubei, Hunan, Anhui and Jiangxi.

 


HUTB women’s tennis team is made up of student Xie Shi from the School of Law & Public Administration, student Zhou Ziying from the School of Computer Science & Information Engineering, student Huang Ying from the School of Law & Public Administration, and student Pan Yingnuo from the School of Economy & Trade. All of them are excellent athletes from the tennis special class supervised by teach Li Dongqi from the School of Physical Education and Health. They performed excellently in the game, dared to fight, and displayed superb skills and sincere team spirit. In the game, HUTB, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, former second runner-up, Heifei University of Technology, and Hubei University of Technology were in group A. Under meticulous guidance of teacher Li Dongqi and coach Wang Yin, HUTB women’s tennis team, because of its stable performance, made it to the elimination competition. Finally, after beating Wuhan University with 2:1 in the third place match of the Central China division, HUTB women’s tennis team won the third place in the game, gaining qualification for the national finals, the best result achieved by HUTB in national college student tennis competitions.

 

It is learned that since the Ministry of Education conferred on HUTB the qualification to recruit top tennis playersin March, 2020, HUTB’s tennis education has achieved rapid development. In December 2020, HUTB won 6 gold medals and team champion in the first college students tennis competition of Hunan province. The outstanding performance of HUTB women’s tennis team will further promote the development of the university’s physical education.
