Preparatory Meeting for the First Party Congress of HUTB Held

On the afternoon of May 20, the preparatory meeting for the first Party Congress of HUTB was held in Yincai Lecture Hall, Library of HUTB, attended by the leaders of Party and government and all the Party representatives and presided over by Xiao Xiaoqin, ViceParty secretary.
At the meeting, the participating Party representatives deliberated and voted by show of hands to approve the list of members of the presidium and secretary-general of the congress and the main agenda of the congress.
Huang Xin, deputy Party secretary and president, was entrusted by the Leading Group of Preparatory Work for Party Congress to make a report on the preparatory work for the First Congress of HUTB. He introduced the preparatory work for the Party Congress from five aspects: the guiding ideology and main tasks of the Congress, the preparatory body and division of labor for the Congress, the election of Party representatives, the nomination of candidates for the new Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Commission, and the drafting and revision of the work reports of the "Committee and Commission". The work report was approved by votes of the Party representatives attending the congress.
Gan Dejian, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of HUTB, made a report on the qualification examination of representatives of the first Party Congress of HUTB on behalf of the qualification examination group of representatives of the Party Congress. The report pointed out that the 196 representatives elected by various electoral units have good overall quality and reasonable structure, all conform to the provisions of the Party Constitution and the Party Committee on the election of representatives to the Party Congress, the procedures and conditions for the election of representatives, and have valid qualifications. The report on the qualification examination was approved by votes of the Party representatives attending the congress.
Party representatives attending the congress deliberated in writing and voted by show of hands to pass the report on the collection, use and management of party dues.
Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary-General and CAE Academician, said in her speech that the first Party Congress of HUTB is a great and happy event in the political life of all Party members, teachers, students and employees. It is the first Party Congress after the university changed its name, and it is a very important conference held in the critical period of comprehensively summarizing the achievements of the 13th Five-Year Plan, fully launching the 14th Five-Year Plan, accelerating high-quality development, promoting the construction of "double first-class" and realizing a new leap in history, with far-reaching significance and glorious mission. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the congress thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, carefully reviewed the work of HUTB in the past six years, summed up the experience, recognized the situation clearly, defined the tasks, unified the thoughts, formed the consensus, mobilized and called on all Party members, teachers, students and employees to strive hard to build an innovative first-class technology and business university with distinctive characteristics. The congress will also elect the new Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Commission of HUTB. Secretary Chen Xiaohong put forward three requirements to ensure the orderly progress of the congress: first, stress politics and take care of the overall situation and make every effort to ensure the smooth progress of the congress; second, undertake the responsibilities and perform the duties well and carefully consider the report submitted to the congress; third, stress the Party spirit and attach importance to the principle to complete the election tasks.
After the preparatory meeting, the Presidium of the congress held its first meeting. The meeting deliberated and voted by show of hands to pass the agenda of meeting, the list of attendees and invitees, and the instructions for the meeting.
