In 2015, the fourth Party Congress of HNUC was successfully held. Over the past six years, HUTB thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, pooled the strength of all teachers, students and staff, overcome the difficulties and forged ahead, successfully completed various tasks set forth by the congress, achieved the leapfrog development and all-round historical achievements, and reached a new level in the comprehensive strength and education.
In the past six years, HUTB has undergone the earth-shaking changes and achieved the obvious results: successfully renamed as "Hunan University of Technology and Business" and successfully listed in the first batch of undergraduate enrollment in Hunan Province; approved as doctor degree awarding institution in Hunan Province, recommended by our province to participate in the evaluation by Ministry of Education for the new doctor degree awarding institution; Professor Chen Xiaohong was successively elected as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, member of the National Committee of the 8th National Natural Science Foundation, convener of the Management Science and Engineering Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council; innovation and entrepreneurship education has become a beautiful new business card of HUTB, winning many national honors and ranking first in the province; the only teaching achievement declared won the national second prize, realizing the zero breakthrough in this award. At the same time, HUTB has won 4 first prizes for provincial teaching achievements; the approved National Basic Science Center led by Academician Chen Xiaohong achieved the zero breakthrough in the National Basic Science Center in our province; HUTB has won the first, second and third prizes for outstanding achievements in humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and was the first university in our province to achieve the "Grand Slam"; Beijin College has become the first independent college to be successfully transferred in our province; sophisticated, exquisite, intelligent and two-type campus has been basically completed. The Economic Management Complex with a construction area of 63,000 ㎡ has become a new landmark; Party building work has been carried out in a down-to-earth manner, ideological and political work has been continuously strengthened, and a number of advanced models such as "National Model Branch of Party Building Work" have emerged. Among them, the most symbolic, exciting and far-reaching is the outstanding completion of the goal of "Three-upgrade Strategy". Education level of HUTB has fulfilled the historic leap.
In March 2018, the 15thplenary meeting of the Academic Degrees Committee of the People's Government of Hunan Province deliberated and approved that our school was approved as the second batch of doctoral degree awarding project construction units in Hunan Province, and four first-class disciplines of management science and engineering, applied economics, business administration and law were approved as project construction doctoral degree authorization points. The successful approval of the doctoral degree award to the project construction unit and the project construction doctoral degree authorization point has laid a solid foundation for realizing the goal of "promoting doctoral degree point".
In June, 2018, Department of Education of Hunan Province officially issued a notice, deciding to upgrade HNUC to the first batch of undergraduate in Hunan. This indicates that HUTB has made great progress in "Three-upgrade Strategy", and successfully achieved the goal of "upgrading second batch of undergraduate to first batch of undergraduate", which is a good start of "Three-upgrade Strategy". Hearing this good news, all the teachers and students of HUTB jumped for joy. The confidence and determination to fully realize the goal of "Three-upgrade Strategy" are further strengthened.
In June 2019, the Ministry of Education officially sent a letter to People's Government of Hunan Province, agreeing that HNUC is renamed as HUTB. Once the news that our university is officially renamed as HUTB was released, more than 100 mainstream media such as People's Network, China News Network and Guangming Network reported one after another, arousing the widespread concern in the society. After learning that the college is upgraded to university, the joy of teachers, students, alumni and parents of HUTB is as shown in facial expressions. Brother colleges and alumni associations have also sent congratulatory messages.
In 2020, HUTB was recommended by Hunan Province to participate in the evaluation of a key institution to develop doctoral programs of the Ministry of Education, and the goal of "upgrading to a doctoral degree awarding institution" took an important step forward.
In the past six years, while actively promoting the work of "Three-upgrade Strategy", HUTB has made great achievements in the construction of “Double First-class” Initiative, and its social reputation has also improved significantly, providing strong support for realizing the goal of "Three-upgrade Strategy".
Six first-class disciplines, namely, Management Science and Engineering, Applied Economics, Business Administration, Law, Theoretical Economics and Marxist Theory, have been listed in the "China Best Discipline Ranking List 2020 " of Shanghai Ranking, among which Management Science and Engineering ranks 20th in China and enters the top 9%. Two first-class disciplines, Management Science and Engineering, and Applied Economics, have successfully established as the provincial "double first-class" disciplines. 10 majors such as Business Administration have been recognized as national first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 20 majors such as Engineering Management have been recognized as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 48 courses such as Private International Lawhave been approved as the provincial first-class undergraduate courses. In the ranking of universities in China Alumni Association Network, HUTB jumped from 410th in 2015 to 200th in 2020, ranking 13th in national financial universities, with the comprehensive strength greatly improved.
After upgrading to first batch of undergraduate, the enrollment score line of HUTB is significantly higher than the admission control line in the province and shows a rising trend year after year. The quality of students is significantly improved. HUTB has been appraised as "the advanced unit of education news propaganda in the province" for many years, Excellent models such as “good people in Hunan”, “the most beautiful Hunan women”, “koi girls”, and “coming from school” have emerged one after another. The results of education have been reported more than 2,000 times by authoritative mainstream media such as Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, Guangming Daily, China Education News, Hunan Daily, Hunan Satellite TV, and RedNet. The reputation of HUTB as a university being fond of learning and full of love has spread widely. HUTB has created the special phenomenon, ran at the special speed and won a good social reputation.
"Three-upgrade Strategy" has yielded fruitful results and brilliant achievements have been made with one heart. Over the past six years, HUTB has concentrated its efforts on solving the difficult problems which it failed to solve in the past and has accomplished the major events which it failed to do in the past. "Three-upgrade Strategy" that several generations of HUTB people have been dreaming about and eagerly awaiting has finally become a reality today. The majority of teachers, students, retired veteran comrades and alumni really feel that HUTB is in the fastest period in the history of development, the best period of influence, popularity and reputation, and the strongest period of teachers, students and employees' sense of acquisition, happiness, safety and belonging. The future has come, and what dazzling light will HUTB show in the 14thFive-Year Plan and even for a longer period in the future? Let's unite closely around the Party Committee of HUTB and continue to climb the peak and move forward bravely towards the new development goal.
