[Study and Education of Party’s History] Activity for China’s Youth Day Themed "Turning to the Party and Building a Strong Country" held by HUTB

On the afternoon of April 30, the activity for China’s Youth Day themed "Turning to the Party and Building a Strong Country" was held in the Lecture Hall of Economic Management Complex, in which Chen Xiaohong, Secretary and CAE Academician, and Gan Dejian, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President were present, and more than 500 people including all members of the Youth League Committee, secretaries of the Youth League Committees of schools and student representatives attended.
After watching the learning video of the Party’s history - We Are Not the Same,all the teachers and students, led by the choir of HUBT, sang the revolutionary song - Under the Brilliant Sunshine.With the red flags flying at the scene, teachers and students praised the motherland, socialism and new era with beautiful songs.
All the League members, led by student Pan Ziwen, Deputy Director of the Art and Literature Department of the Youth League Committee, reviewed the pledge of joining the League: I volunteer to join the Communist Youth League of China, firmly support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, follow the constitution of the League, implement the resolutions of the League, fulfill the obligations of the members, and strictly abide by the disciplines of the League, study diligently, work actively, endure the hardship first, enjoy last, and fight for the cause of communism!
Later, three outstanding representatives of students made speeches. Huang Yimin, Executive Chairman of Student Union said: "as a cadre of student union, I will take the lead, temper the morality, keep the faith, strengthen the moral cultivation, distinguish the right and wrong, improve the self-determination, assist students to grow and become talents, make contribution to the development of HUTB and lead the broad masses of young people from HUTB to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.” Outstanding student representative Peng Yao said that “youths in the new era should keep learning from the history of the Party, not forget the past, take the good footpath and pave the way for the future. The closer we are to achieve the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the more we need a force to inspire our young people to love the country, love the party and redouble our efforts." Li Xiao, one of the Top Ten Youth Representatives, encouraged everyone to "love life, learn how to learn, worry about the people and make achievements; learn and live with passion with a positive attitude; cultivate the curiosity, love the learning, and be good at learning; and most of all, cultivate a sense of family and country and a sense of responsibility, get the dreams and pursuits."
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary and CAE Academician, pointed out that HUTB has made strategic and historic achievements in recent years. With the goal of the "Three-upgrade Strategy” basically realized, and the overall strength enhanced greatly, the dreams of generations of HUTB students and teachers have become a reality. The campus keeps changing with each passing day, and the learning and living conditions of teachers and students have been significantly improved. Everyone meets the best HUTB in history. In the course of running a school for more than 70 years, the young people of HUTB have written a youth epic to serve the motherland and people, and build their homes. Now, you consciously regard excellence, diligence and civilization as a habit, show a spirit of self-confidence, progress and struggle and demonstrate the excellent quality of " honesty, practical-minded, virtuous, learned and self-renewal" in the cozy academy, the modern laboratory, various competitions, public welfare activities and social practices.
Chen emphasized that standing at the historical intersection of the "two centuries" and facing the critical period of the new leap-forward development, the best commemoration of the May Fourth Movement by the broad masses of young people is to courageously walk in the forefront of times under the leadership of the Party, bear the historical responsibilities and write the brand-new achievements with the feeling of serving the country, the innovative consciousness, the practical character and the spirit of striving for the day and night.
Chen put forward three hopes for the young people of HUTB: First, we should persist on the spirit of May Fourth Movement and strive to be a firm patriot. To maintain the spirit of the May Fourth Movement, the young people of HUBT should hold high the banner of patriotism, unswervingly follow the Party on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, closely link their ideals with the future of motherland, their growth with the destiny of nation, integrate the individual’s pursuit of happiness into the great practice of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and always go hand in hand with the motherland to glow with youthful splendor while fighting for the motherland, people and Chinese nation.
Second, we should keep reasonable, strengthen the belief and strive to be virtuous practitioner. In the study of Party history, the young people should better discern the laws such as the laws of the Communist Party's governance, the laws of socialist construction, and the laws of society development, identify the main lines of history and the essence of the mainstream, and deeply understand the historical inevitability of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is necessary to clarify the truth, and continuously promote the innovation and development of Marxist theory based on the new changes in the situation, the new development of practice and the new needs of the people. It is necessary to clarify the road and deeply understand that the socialist road is the inevitable choice for the development of China's modern history, and it is a solemn choice made by the Chinese people. It is important for us to consciously strengthen our belief in Marxism, our faith in socialism with Chinese characteristics, our confidence in the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, and our trust in the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, constantly arouse, consolidate, strengthen and sublimate the confidence, show the great virtue, observe the public morality, and promote the personal morality, consciously obey the leadership of the Party, cultivate the feelings of serving the people, and adhere to the innocent heart to the people.
Third, we should forge ahead, and strive to be the leader of innovation. We should endure great hardships in pioneer work, pioneer the new ideas, take the initiative to be dedicated to the innovation-driven development strategy, dare to emancipate the mind, break through the boundaries, explore the unknown and keep up with the times based on the "Three Highlands, Four New Missions" strategy of Hunan, combine the creative enthusiasm with scientific attitude, the laying of solid foundation with innovative breakthroughs, and be willing to innovate, be good at innovation, and lead the innovation in the cross-integrated learning practice, try to discover, invent and create and write more papers on the land of the motherland. The teachers and students of HUTB should contribute the wisdom and strength for our country to become a science and technology power and an economic power as soon as possible and to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
In the end, all the teachers and students sang the songs Singing for the Motherlandand Song of Hunan Industrial and Commercial University. The activity ended successfully with the high-pitched song echoed in the enthusiastic atmosphere.
After the event, Chen also held a discussion with some outstanding representatives of students in Chufeng Academy of Economic Management Complex. She cordially asked the students about the "Reading Season" activities, school life, social practice, postgraduate entrance examination and employment, etc., with a desire to understand the students’ true feelings, comments and suggestions about the development of HUTB. She said that for the purpose to create a better learning and living conditions for students, HUTB is stepping up the construction of new learning and living places such as the Student Activity Center of the Economic Management Complex and the new Student Apartment of Lingnan Campus with a desire to escort the healthy growth of students. She showed the great hope that students cultivate the real knowledge and skill, learn to behave in the world, develop the family and national feelings and responsibility, treat themselves with a normal heart, serve the society with an enterprising heart, serve the country with a heartfelt heart, and make an effort to grow into the composite and innovative business talents essential for the economic and social development and the scientific and technological independence.
