HUTB Holds Consultative Conference on Planning of Education Development under the “14th Five-Year Plan”

On the afternoon of April 25, HUTB held the consultative conference on planning of education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan” at the lecture hall on the third floor of the Innovation Center in Lingnan Campus. CAS Academician Hou Zengqian, CAE members including Wu Wenrui, Sun Yongfu, He Jishan, Cai Meifeng, Huang Weihe, Jin Zhixin, Lu Chunfang, Fan Guobin, Liu He, Huang Xiaowei, Dong Erdan and Xiang Jinwu, Li Jian, former Party Secretary-General of Wuhan University, Huang Haitao, Deputy Director of the 3rdBureau of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Nie Shuqin, Second-level Inspector of the Engineering Management Department of CAE, Chang Junqian, Second-level Investigator of the Engineering Management Department of CAE, and experts, scholars and leaders from National Natural Science Foundation of China, CAE, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National University of Defense Technology, Jilin University, Beijing Normal University, Central South University, South China University of Technology, Chonqing University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Sany Group, China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited, Hunan Federation of Social Sciences Association Council and Xiangtan University were invited to contribute wisdom to the development of HUTB. Current leaders, former leaders and directors of secondary units of HUTB attended the conference. The conference was hosted by Academician Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary of HUTB.
At the conference, Li Dingjun, leader of HUTB, reported the thought on the planning of education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan”. Under the theme of “moral education, serving development, and building a first-class, high-level, innovative technology and business university with international influence and distinctive characteristics in China”, he elaborated on four aspects, i.e. history, construction foundation, development goal and indicator, and construction measures.
The academicians, experts and leaders spoke highly of the educational achievements made by HUTB during the “13thFive-Year Plan” period and the scientific nature and integrity of the thought on the planning of education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan”. In order to help HUTB formulate a science-based plan for education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan”, they proposes a series of constructive suggestions in terms of interdisciplinary construction, talent training, scientific research, platform construction, faculty building, distinctive school construction, alumni affairs, employment, university-university cooperation, university-enterprise cooperation, international exchange and cooperation, socio-economic service and brand building.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary of HUTB, summed up the conference. She pointed out that the academicians, experts and leaders proposed a lot of valuable and inspiring opinions and suggestions HUTB’s plan for education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan”, which attests to their long-stand care and support for HUTB’s development. She said that HUTB will take these opinions and suggestions seriously, incorporate them into the planning of education development under the “14thFive-Year Plan”, and formulate a science-based, higher-level, visionary development plan. She stressed that HUTB should development a plan that applies until 2025, 2035 and even 2050, work hard to advance high-quality development, give full play to its characteristics and influence, and strive to build a first-class, high-level, innovative technology and business university with distinctive characteristics and international influence in China.
