[Lushan Lecture] Professor Guo Kesha of Huaqiao University Gives A Lecture at HUTB

On the morning of April 19, Professor Guo Kesha, Dean of School of Economics and Finance, Huaqiao University, delivered upon invitation the 108thLushan Lecture at HUTB, with the theme of “Industrial Policy with Chinese Characteristics”. The lecture was held at the lecture hall of A309, Zhicheng Building, hosted by Xiang Guocheng, Dean of School of Economy & Trade, and attended by faculty, graduate and undergraduate representatives of HUTB.
Professor Guo Kesha elaborated the industrial policy with Chinese characteristics in terms of five aspects, that is the focus of the current argument around industrial policy, the rise and development of Chinese industrial policy, the nature and characteristics of Chinese industrial policy, the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese industrial policy, and the evolution trend of Chinese industrial policy. He said that the current argument around industrial policy focuses on the industrial structure policy, and that the industrial policy with Chinese characteristics is closely linked to the efforts to promote industry and achieve economic catch-up. He pointed out that the improvement of economic development, deepening reform of economic system and enhancement of international competitiveness are the basic criteria for judging the evolution trend of industrial policy. At the end of the lecture, Professor Guo conducted an interaction with the attending teachers and students, and patiently answered questions raised by teachers and students.
Professor Guo Kesha is the Dean of School of Economics and Finance, the Dean of Institute of Economic Development and Reform and doctoral supervisor of Huaqiao University, and Director of Center for Economic Policy Research, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is an expert receiving the special government allowance of the State Council, and serves as a member of the review committee of projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, a member of the review committee of projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and a member of the review committee of projects funded by Sun Yefang Foundation. Professor Guo Kesha has published more than 400 papers in Social Sciences in China, Economic ResearchJournal, Management World and Qiushi. He was awarded numerous honors, including the Work Prize of Sun Yefang Economic Science Award (1994) and the Paper Prize of Sun Yefang Economic Science Award (2002), Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences1996, and First and Second-level Talent of Ten Million TalentProject of the former Ministry of Personnel 1999.
