HUTB Teachers and Students Performed Well in 14th National Exhibition Planning and Exhibition Design Competition for Business Colleges and Universities

From December 2 to 4, the 14thNational Exhibition Planning and Exhibition Design Competition for Business Colleges and Universities & the 5th Ningbo Exhibition Creative Design Competition, jointly hosted by China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) and Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Service Industry Development and co-hosted by the Training Department of CGCC, Ningbo Convention & Exhibition Association, Beijing New Expo International Cultural and Media Co., Ltd., Beijing Xinyi Century Advertising Co., Ltd. and Beijing New Expo Smart Big Data Technology Research Institute, was held in Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. A total of 500 college teachers and students in the major of convention and exhibition from more than 10 provinces and municipalities around the country attended the event. Among 260 participating teams, the HUTB team, which is composed of 5 students in the major of convention and exhibition of class 2019 from the School of Tourism Management, including Huang Shaofeng, Shang Dadong, Xu Yilei, Wu Luyi and Fu Zhenni, stood out and received the first prize of the undergraduate category in the final of the competition. Professor Wang Peiliang, who served as the coach of the team, received the “Best Coach Award”. At the same time, HUTB received the “Best Organizing College Award”.

This year’s competition was composed of individual contest and group contest, with participants falling under two categories, i.e. undergraduate category and vocational category. Under the categories of convention & exhibition planning and exhibition design, contestants can choose pre-defined themes or self-defined themes. Under the theme of “Ocean Expo Ningbo”, the HUTB team conducted survey and creative planning from the perspectives of feasibility, exhibition hall and exhibition area, exhibition events, marketing and investment and financial risks, yielding more than 30 international exhibition projects, summits and featured events. The project was acclaimed by participating expert judges, who agreed that the project was tailored according to the port and marine economic advantages of Ningbo and reached a new height of creativity.
On December 4, the Organizing Committee of the competition held the “Convention & Exhibition Education and Talent Forum” under the theme of “Online and Offline Convention & Exhibition Brings New Challenges for Education and Employment”. At the meeting, Pan Wei, deputy secretary-general of CGCC, conferred to HUTB the plaque reading “China Convention & Exhibition University-Enterprise Cooperation Alliance Member”. At the second dialogue session themed“How to Do aGood Job inConvention & Exhibition Planning”, Wang Peiliang, professor of HUTB, delivered a speech upon invitation, and had an exchange of ideas with industry experts on key points in convention & exhibition planning and what it takes to become an excellent planner of convention & exhibition.(Reported by Li Chaojuan frome School of Tourism Management)
