On November 15, Hunan Provincial Hotel Management Business Planning Creative Contest 2020, hosted by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, undertaken by Hunan Normal University and co-hosed by Jinmao (China) Hotel Investments and Management Limited, Hunan Earth House Technology Co., Ltd. and Hunan Provincial Hotel Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Base, was held in Hunan Normal University. The student delegations guided by Chen Wen and Li Wanqiong, teachers of the School of Tourism Management of HUTB won a gold prize and a first prize respectively, and the student delegation guided by Liu Zhi, teacher of the School of Tourism Management, won a second prize.

Since its launch in July, the contest lasted 4 months. Upon receiving the notice, the School of Tourism Management immediately mobilized students to set up teams, and organized multiple online and face-to-face discussions on topic selection. After HUTB was opened, participating students consulted relevant teachers, and concentrated their time and efforts on preparing for the contest at school level. Due to the pandemic, the traditional face-to-fact contest was replaced by an online road show and Q&A session. The School of Tourism Management provided multi-party and intensive training for participating students, repeatedly revised the text, and organized professional speaker training. In the contest at universitylevel, the contestants’ performance received acclaim and guidance from experts inside and outside HUTB. Thanks to the greater importance attached by HUTB and the School of Tourism Management and the guidance of industry experts, a total of 6 teams from HUTB made it to the provincial contest attended by 300-odd teams across the province. After fierce competition, 3 teams representing HUTB achieved good results.
Following the path of college-business cooperation and internationalization, the School of Tourism Management of HUTB is committed to practicing the concept of building an open, collaborative training mechanism and innovating the development mode for talents in business-related fields and the fundamental task of morality and education, in efforts to foster innovation and application-oriented talents. The excellent performance of HUTB students in this year’s contest fully demonstrates the achievements of HUTB in building an innovative training mechanism for talents in the field of tourism management.
