[Lushan Forum] CAE Academician Lu Chunfang Gives Invited Lecture at HUTB upon Invitation

On the afternoon of November 18, Professor Lu Chunfang, an academician of CAE, delivered a speech titled “Innovation and Development of Chinese High-Speed Railway” in the 103rdsession of Lushan Forum and the 6thsession of the “My Ideal and How I Do Research” forum at HUTB. Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, attended the event. More than 1,000 teachers and students from the Scientific Research Administration Division, and relevant schools listened to Academician Lu Chunfang’s remarkable report. The event was presided over by Vice President Li Dingjun.

 


The brilliant academic report delivered by Academician Lu Chunfang covers 8 topics, i.e., the development of high-speed railway around the world, the development of high-speed railway in China, key technologies, safety, comfort, social and economic benefits, scientific and technological innovation and future development. In his report, Academician Lu pointed out that China faces a task of making high-speed railway more intelligent, and that when it comes to further developing high-speed railway, the country should focus on key technologies in the aspects of line, EMU, train control and traction power supply. Safety, comfort and social and economic benefits are unavoidable, important topics in the construction of high-speed railway. In particular, as a critical component of high-speed railway development, safety cannot be realized unless we conduct strict regulation in the aspects of technology system, project quality, product quality and operation and management. Going forward, the country should stick to the fundamental path of making high-speed railway faster, greener, more intelligent and cost-efficient. Before the event was concluded, Academician Lu took questions from teachers and students, and his brilliant answers received applauds among the attendees.

 


Academician Lu Chunfang is a famous expert in the field of railway engineering technology and management, and serves as the Chairman of China Railway Society. He acted as the vice minister of the Ministry of Railways, vice president of China Railway Corporation and the chief commander of the general headquarters in the construction of Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway. He has long engaged in the construction management and technological innovation of railways, and was the actual organizer of China’s efforts to build high-speed railway from 2005 to 2016. His achievements include organizing the construction of the road network framework of Chinese high-speed railway, proposing a model to standardize the management of high-speed railway construction and a method for dynamic construction organization, organizing the integrated, independent innovation of high-speed railway technologies, establishing an R&D and experimental verification system for high-speed railway technologies, developing a CRTSⅢ ballastless track system and using it in high-speed railways on a large scale, organizing the development of CR EMUs, and realizing the independent development and simplification of EMUs. He received special prize of National S&T Progress Award 2015, and he is the author of books like Standardized Management of Railway Construction Projectsand Chinese High-speed Railway.
