HUTB Undertakes 4th Hunan Provincial College Student IoT Application Innovation Design Contest

From November 14 to 15, the 4thHunan Provincial College Student IoT Application Innovation Design Contest 2020 (“Qiangzhi Cup”), hosted by the Department of Education of Hunan Province and undertaken by HUTB, was held in HUTB’s stadium and Rixin Building. A total of 195 teams from 32 colleges and universities, including National University of Defense Technology, Central South University and HUTB, joined the contest. Zeng Liqin, Director of the Higher Education Division of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, Shi Ronghua, President of Hunan Internet of Things Federation, and Liu Guoquan, HUTB Vice President, conducted inspection and observed the contest.



The provincial contest consists of three categories, i.e., a creative contest, a skill contest and a challenging contest. In the creative contest, contestants are encouraged to be creative in solving practical problems. They are required to select a software and hardware platform and development a creative IoT product, which will be evaluated in terms of innovation and application prospect. In the skill contest, contestants are required to operate a selected software and hardware platform within 4 hours, and apply their software and hardware skills in realizing the functions of a designated IoT system. In the challenging contest, contestants are required create and debug programs on a designated software and hardware platform within 3 hours, and submit them through web to a rating platform for evaluation.
After two days of intensive competition and review by expert judges, the contest announced 11 first prizes, 19 second prizes and 25 third prizes of the creative contest; 7 first prizes, 13 second prizes and 16 third prizes of the skill contest; and 3 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 8 third prizes of the challenging contest. HUTB student teams won 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 1 third prize.
It is learned that the provincial contest realized a new high in terms of the number of colleges and teams. Attaching great importance to the contest, HUTB made meticulous arrangements to hold the contest as scheduled, which is acclaimed by superior departments like the provincial education department and provincial IoT federation.
