Yao Laiying, Standing Committee Member of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Conducts Investigation in HUTB

According to its uniform arrangement, leaders of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee will conduct an investigation in eachcontacteduniversity every year. In the morning of November 5, Yao Laiying, Standing Committee Memberof CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Party Secretary of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Hunan Provincial People’s Government conducted an investigation in HUTB. Mr. Yao investigatedXiande Maker Academy, Chufeng Academy and laboratories in Technology Building, listened to theintroductions to “creation, innovation and entrepreneurship” education, scientific researches, talent cultivation, cultural progress, theoretical publicity, lab improvement, campus infrastructure construction of HUTB, etc. A session was followed. Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, gave a work report from the four aspects, i.e. university development, school-running achievements during the “13thfive-year plan” period, workconsiderationin the next stage, and matters of concern requested by HUTB, and expressed that HUTB would contribute its wisdom and strength to and assume relevant responsibilities for thenewpositioning and targets of “three highlands” and “four new missions” for Hunan presented by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Secretary Tang Yayang gave introductions to HUTB’s implementation of thespirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit in Hunan and thespirit of the fifth Plenary Session of the 19thCentral Committee of the CPC, and HUTB’s actions to strengthen Party buildingand moral education, and development planning during the “14thfive-year plan” period.
Mr. Yao fully affirmed the achievements made by HUTB during the past 70 years since its founding. He pointed outthat, in recent years, HUTB has developed rapidly, demonstratingintegration between technologiesand humanities, strong innovation atmosphere, benign studystyle and school spirit, distinctive features and outstanding achievements of new engineering and business specialties, and effective moral education, and contributed to the socioeconomic development. He highlighted five points: No. 1, it is necessary to enhancethein-depth learning and thorough implementation of thespirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit in Hunan and thespirit of the fifth Plenary Session of the 19thCentral Committee of the CPC, identify precise positioning and develop advantages focusing on “three highlands”, “four new missions” and “five tasks”, and contribute to the construction of a prosperous, beautiful and happy Hunan; No. 2, it is importantto strengthen sci-tech innovation, adhere to “four orientations”, erect high-end platforms, introduce and cultivate high-caliberandleading middle-aged and young backbonetalents, and make new achievements in realizing new goals; No. 3, it is requiredto improve teaching quality to make education and teaching and talent cultivation keep abreast with the times; No. 4, it is necessary to persist in open schooling, strengthen cooperation with top enterprises, and continuouslyimprove HUTB’s comprehensive strength; No. 5, it is importantto reinforce Party building, promotethe Party’s overall self-discipline, innovate the ideological and political theory teaching, and makethe Party’s theoriesdeep in mind.
