HUTB Faculty and Students Learn Spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee

The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19thCommunist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee was held in Beijing onOctober 26-29. The Session deliberated on and approved theCentral Committee's Proposal for the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 (hereinafter referred to as the Proposal), whichdrawsthe blueprint for China’s development. HUTB faculty and students listened to, read and watched news relating to the Session via the Internet, television, radio, newspaper, APP, etc., followed the Session closely, earnestly learned the spirit of the Session, and discussed hot issues of interest.
Luo Shuanglin, a teacher from School of Economy and Trade: under the context where COVID-19 is spreading across the globe and the world is in severe economic crisis, the Central Committee of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping as core considered the situation and showed great foresight, and scientifically planned the vision and objectives in the future five and even fifteen years, fully demonstrating the correct strategic instructions, clear tactic manipulation and scientific coordination and promotion of the Central Committee of the CPC and also the invincible will of the people. At present, the domestic market demand is driven by consumption upgrading, and it is necessary to accelerate the supply-side structural reform to satisfy people’s need for a betterlife. At the same time, it is necessary to deepen reform and openingup, cultivate new international competitiveness edges, and construct a new development pattern of mutual promotion between the domestic and international circulations. As a college teacher, we should deeply understand the theory of new development pattern proposed by the Central Committee of the CPC, timely integrate new theories, new thoughts and new ideas into teaching, and direct students to think about China’s competition and cooperation in the new future economic and trade pattern and firmly establish “four confidence”.
Chen Lizhou, a teacher from School of Marxism Studies: the people judge whether a society is well developed or not. The Session, as usual, puts the people in the first place, “adheres to the people-first principle”, “improves the people’s life quality”, “increase the people’s income”, “constantly strengthen the people’s senses of fulfilment, happiness and security”, etc., and “people” is mentioned throughout the Session.All of these adequately manifest the CPC’s people-first governing concept and meet people’s needs for a betterlife. The people are not abstract existence, but concrete social doers and fundamental power to promote historical progress. The Session prospectively put forward the exciting goal of “more noticeable substantial progress will be made in all-round development of human being and common prosperity for everyone” by 2035. Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation can be expected soon; we, under the Party’s leadership, will have more steadfast willpower, more explicit goals and march forward at more forceful pace.
Chen Yanli, a teacher from School ofAccounting: the Proposal deliberated on and approved in the Session fully embodies the new requirements of times and people’s new expectations, and is the programmatic document for starting the new journey to build a great modern socialist country in all aspects and march towards the second centennial goals. As a tutor who is always in the front line, I will bear in mind the mission of morality education, be based on my position, keep abreast of the times, do a good job in ideological and political education for university students, guide them into the right path with correct thoughts, lead them to love our country and socialism, uphold“four confidence”, and persist in “two maintenance” unconsciously, strengthen my senses of responsibility and mission for national rejuvenation, be a useful person who firmly upholds the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the socialist system, and is determined to devote myself to the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, and forge ahead with courage for realizing “the Two Centenary Goals” and the Chinese Dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Tang Haoyu, a studentof postgraduate class of 2022from School of Marxism Studies: make structure and layout at the intersection of the Two Centenary Goals. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19thCommunist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee was an important meeting held when the world was undergoing unprecedented changes and China was at the historical intersection of “the Two Centenary Goals”, and will definitely be a significant part in the history of the Chinese nation rejuvenation and China’s modernization. The Proposal identifies directions and draws a blueprint for China’s economic and social development for the following five and even fifteen years, fully demonstrates the atmosphere of the new times, embodies the features of the new times, implements the requirements of the new times, and caters for the public’s expectations, puts forward the vision of making more noticeable substantial progress of common prosperity for everyone for the first time, presents a series of requirements and measures for bettering the people’s life quality, makes planning and arrangements in the fields of employment, income, education, culture and sports, hygiene and health, pension, social insurance and so on, and depicts a wonderful livelihood picture.
Yang Mei, an undergraduate of class of 2023from School of Literature and Journalism: the Session highlights the vision of basically realizing socialist modernization by 2035 from economic, social, cultural, ecological and people’s life perspectives, including being among the innovation-oriented countries, constructing a modern economic system, basically realizing modernization of the national governance system and governance capability, basically realizing the goal of building beautiful China, making people’s life better, etc. As a contemporary university student, I am proud and delightedthat, the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and we are also in good days. We have greater and better study platforms, have access to richer learning resources, and enjoy the tremendous benefit from rapid national development. Nowadays, standing with the historical trend, we should keep our mission firmly in mind and shoulder responsibilities boldly, seize the day and live it to the full, collect individual power into the glory of new times, and write a new splendid chapter of the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era!
Wang Junyi, an undergraduate of class of 2024from School of Finance: through watching the Session, I have further felt China’s changes and strength. The Session summarizes great achievements China has made during the past years, such as an all-round well-off society, reform and opening-up, improvement of people’s livelihoods, etc., thoroughly introduces China’s economic, political, social and livelihood development achievements in the new era, highly affirms China’s economic and social development achievements, but also points out some deficiencies which can be solved through the young’s subsequent continuous efforts. Mr. Liang Qichao once said: “The young is strong, the country is strong.” As university students in the new era, we should be patriotic, make every effort to learn expertise, actively participate in social practices, take the initiative to acquaint ourselves with domestic and foreign politics of current events, spare no effort to promote our own overall development, and make our contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream.
