HUTB Students Achieve Good Results in 26th Hunan College English Speaking Contest

The quarter-finals of the 26thHunan College English Speaking Contest and the 11th“FLTRP Cup” National English Speaking Contest Hunan Division, sponsored by Department of Education of Hunan Province and undertaken by Hunan Institute of Engineering, wereheld in Hunan Institute of Engineering from October 31 to November 1. HUTB’s team had 3 contestants, among which,Yue Xiaohui, a student of English Class 1801 from School of Foreign Languages, won the first individual prize of English specialty, Cai Xin, a student of French Class 1802 from School of Foreign Languages, won the firstindividual prize of Non-English specialty, and Pan Wenjin, a student of Class 1813A from School of Finance, won the secondindividual prize of Non-English specialty.The team won the first group prize by virtue of the total scorein Hunan Province.
153 contestants from 51 teams attended the contest which was composed of 3-minute speeches on given topics, 1-minute question answers and 2-minute table topic session. In the preparation process, Vice President Liu Guoquan who is in charge of teaching work, and leaders from Academic Affairs Division and School of Foreign Languages highly valued and vigorously supported the pre-competition training and other preparation work. Xie Yajun and Shi Bo, vice deans of School of Foreign Languages were the teamleaders, and Shi Bo, Liang Xiao, Li Danqian, Wang Jing, Zhu Lihua and He Xiangjun acted as advisors. The outstanding performance sufficiently demonstrates the high-level English speaking abilities, comprehensive quality and team strength of HUTB faculty and students.
