HUTB Holds President On-site Work Meeting on Construction Development for School of Marxism Studies, and School of Law & Public Administration

In the afternoon of October 27, HUTB held the president on-site work meeting on thedevelopment for School of Marxism Studies and School of Law and Public Administrationin Conference Room 401 oftheTechnology Building. Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, Peng Jinqing and Liu Guoquan, both Vice Presidents, heads of HUTB Party Committee Office and Principal Office, Personnel Division, Scientific Research Administration Division and Academic Affairs Division, and representatives from School of Marxism Studies, and School of Law and Public Administration attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Peng.
Peng Huancai, Dean of School of Marxism Studies, reported on the construction of the School bycentering on the construction of teaching faculty, research bases, disciplines and master’s degree programs. He also statedcurrent problems and subsequent plans. Liu Qixiang, Dean of School of Law and Public Administration, made his reporting on new breakthroughs made in the doctoral program construction, academic exchange, discipline construction and talent cultivation which have been actively promoted, as well as existing issues and subsequent work focuses.
Heads of divisionsconcerned presented their suggestions and adviceson scientific research, discipline construction, talent introduction, ideological and political courses, etc., and expressed their full support for the subsequent development of the two schools.
Mr. Peng expressed that it was necessary to actively promote the development of the two schools, coordinate and address the issue of title assessment for teachers and continue to enhance theintroduction ofdoctoral talents during the “14thfive-year plan” period. Mr. Liu asserted the importance to follow General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instruction on offering high-quality ideological and political courses and proactively propel the reform andinnovation of ideological and political courses, endeavoring to make students obtain more sense of fulfillment.
President Chen Xiaohong fully affirmed the achievements made by the two schools in recent years. She stated that,as General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important instruction on the construction of ideological and political coursesandpresented higher requirements to the development of schoolsof Marxism studies, heads concerned should promote thedevelopment of the School according to relevant requirements. The report on “two sessions” pointed out that information technology has provided powerful support for judicial work, and “smart judicature” is currently also a new development trend of judicial work, so theSchool of Law and Public Administration should keep abreast with such trend and propel itsdevelopment to another new level. She also stated that HUTB would actively give counsel on and solutions to thedevelopment ofthe schools and also other schools, clearing construction obstacles and opening up development channels for theseschools on the policy level. She requested that the two schools shouldset goals and identify positioning during the “14thfive-year plan” period, and thatthey should insist on reform and innovation in the subsequent development, develop the new thought to boost interdisciplinary integration in the era of digital economy, take full advantage of online teaching resources available in MOOC, etc., foster quality courses, enhance education and teaching quality, reinforce theintroduction ofacademic pacemakers and doctoral talents according to school features, push forward new development and breakthroughs in discipline construction, specialty construction, talent cultivation, classroom teaching, etc., and thus make more new constructions to the development of HUTB during the “14thfive-year plan” period.
