On the afternoon of Oct. 13, HUTBheld the 5th lecture of "My Ideal and Research Road" in the famous lecture hall and postgraduate tutor training meeting in the Economic Management Complex. Academician Chen Xiaohong, the Principal, gave a special lecture with the theme of "Frontier Trends and Research Innovation in the Digital Economy Era." In each secondary training unit, the postgraduate work leaders, deputy secretaries, postgraduate officers and class teachers, as well as newly selected postgraduate tutors in 2019, all staff of the graduate school, and all graduate students of the 2020 level participated in the special lecture. The lecture was presided over by vice-president Peng Jinqing.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, the president of HUTB, gave an in-depth explanation of three aspects, including opportunities and challenges in the digital economy era, the integration and application of emerging information technologies in the digital economy era, and research innovation and talent growth in the digital economy era. She pointed out that in the development of digital economy it is necessary to provide new kinetic energy for the national economy, offer important support for the national development strategy, boost a new round of technological revolution with digitalization as the core, and profoundly transform new industrial forms, production methods, business operations and service models. It also faces new challenges like core technology being constrained by others, western developed countries containing China's innovation and catch-up, higher requirements for national governance capabilities and governance levels, and the severe test of the COVID-19 epidemic on the global emergency management system. She introduced in detail the basic concepts, development history and integrated applications of big data, blockchain, AI, 5G, quantum computing, virtual reality and other technologies in the digital economy era. She also introduced research topics and ideas based on the connotation and elements of scientific issues, the quality of outstanding researchers, research and paper writing, etc., from the digital economy and the new generation of information technology to accelerate the transformation of talents, the spirit of innovation and patriotism talents incentives. Thus striving to be a "university person" full of emotions, be a powerful "advancer" with diligence, learning to be an enthusiastic "seeker", setting up a world to be a warm "Beyonder", etc., which analyzed the growth of talents in the digital economy era.
PresidentChen pointed out that young students are in a new era of "must struggle" and have good years of "should struggle".
