Academician Chen Xiaohong Leads Her Program Team to Hangzhou for Survey on Alibaba City Brain

Recently, Chen Xiaohong, Fan Guobin, and Liu He, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), led the team of “Strategic Research on Modernized Urban Governance System and Governance Capability for New Smart Cities”, a major consulting research program under the CAE, to Alibaba Yunqi Town in Hangzhou to deeply understand Hangzhou's experience in constructing and governing smart cities. The team was warmly received by Wang Jian,academician of CAE and Chairman of Alibaba Technical Committee. Both sides deeply exchanged their views on city brains, smart cities, cloud computing technology and other fields.
The team visited the exhibition hall of Yunqi Town, learned the details of the town’s development history and current situation, and deeply surveyed theHangzhouCity Brain Operation Command Center, 2050 Museum of Inspiration, 2050 Creativity Camp, etc. The Alibaba City Brain Team introduced, one by one, the construction of the Hangzhou City Brain Operation Command Centerand the main application scenarios such as the traffic congestion control platform, the parking lot resource management platform, the real-time human traffic detection platform, the rapid check-in platform for hotels, the power management platform for State Grid Corporation, Hangzhou Health Code, the platform for the close and clean government-business relationship, and the medical payment platform.
During the survey, Academician Chen Xiaohong and her teammates all believed that Alibaba City Brain which boasts advanced technology and rich application cases has become a benchmark for the construction and governance of smart cities and the development of digital cities in China. In their program, Ms. Chen and her teammates will summarize and draw on the scientific practices and typical experience of Alibaba City Brain. And basing on this program, the team will accelerate the application and promotion of the results, to provide new experience for constructing new smart cities and promoting the modernization of China’s social governance system and governance capabilities and to contribute new measures to improving people’s senses of happiness, gain, and security.
It is learned thatthe “Strategic Research on Modernized Urban Governance System and Governance Capability for New Smart Cities” is a major consulting research program the CAEestablishes to accelerate the thorough implementation of the guiding principle of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is jointly undertaken by HUTB, Alibaba Group, Central South University, Tsinghua University, Xiangtan University, Shenzhen University and other institutions. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the programhas progressed well with fruitful phased results.
