HUTB Holds 2020 Graduation Ceremony

On the morning of June 22, HUTB held the 2020 graduation and degree awarding ceremony in the Conference Hall of the Economic Management Complex. The on-site attendees included Tang Yayang, HUTB Party Secretary, Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, Liu Siwei, Senior Professor, Peng Jinqing, Zeng Fuqiu, Li Dingjun, and Liu Guoquan, four Vice Presidents, Nie Guoqing, a HUTB Leader, Chen Ming, a Party Committee Member of HUTB, heads of relevant functional departments and secondary schools, counselors of graduating classes and some graduate representatives. All the 2020 graduates, their parents, teachers, and alumni watched the live-streamedglorious and joyful ceremonythrough HUTB’s Douyin official account. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Zeng Fuqiu.
It kicked off with the majestic national anthem. Vice President Peng Jinqing announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 144 Graduate Students including Yang Danand the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Master Degrees to 144 Students including Yang Dan. Vice President Liu Guoquan announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of Li Jianqing and Other Students, the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Bachelor Degreesto Li Jianqing and Other Students, the Decision of Beijin College of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 1346 Students including Hu Lingyao, and the Decision of Beijin College of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Bachelor Degreesto1,345 Students including Hu Lingyao. Vice President Li Dingjun announced the commendation lists for provincial outstanding graduates.
The graduate representatives, including Song Fan, a master student, Peng Jianlin from the School of Mathematics & Statistics, Li Yu from the School of Art & Design, and Jin Bingqing from Beijin College, talked about their growth and harvest in four-
“In this paradise of Hunan University of Technology and Business, I have broadened my knowledge and vision, developed my friendship with teachers and classmates, gained honor, and understood my mission,” said Song Fan, who was admitted to at Southeast University as a doctoral candidate. Peng Jianlin recalled the sincere teachings from the teachers when he entered HUTB, “We’ve taken your advice and got out of the ‘comfort zone of life'. We’re striving to grow into innovative, entrepreneurial, and application-oriented professionals.” As a student cadre, Li Yu expressed that he will leave the position of the youth league cadre with dreams and memories, and will responsibly strive ahead towards his dreamed future with the boldest and steadiest steps. Jin Bingqing emotionally talked about his military service years, “As I had served in the army for two years, in the past June, I’ve often recalled the moonlight shining at four o'clock early in the morning at the lookout in the desert border, and I’ve also recalled the lamplights which accompanied me when I was studying hard on campus on scorching summer days.”
Due to the epidemic impact, most graduates were unable to attend the graduation ceremony personally. Scattering across the country, the graduates expressed their gratitude to their alma mater and teachers in the form of videos, wishing the alma mater a more brilliant future with excellent alumni all over the world.
Xu Ge from the School of Business Administration made a speech on behalf of teachers, sending the most sincere blessings and deepest hopes to the 2020 graduates. From the perspective of self-management, she encouraged all graduates to conduct solid goal management and move towards their goals step by step; she hoped that graduates can strive to achieve gradual career success in five years, ten years, and fifteen years; she urged graduates to maintain vitality through proper relaxation and to make the limited life more meaningful; she inspired graduates to well manage their emotions and to keep considerate; she hoped that each graduate can develop a forbearing, generous, and wise mind to embrace all prosperity and adversities in the lifetime.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, HUTB’s President and Director of HUTB's Degree Evaluation Committee, gave a passionate speech with the theme of “Brilliantly move ahead for a meaningful life”. “Having gone through wind and snow, we finally embraced the beautiful spring with hard-won success achieved.” Today, we’re here to freeze and share your glorious moment in a special way. Seeing your faces, I feel very delighted in my heart! On behalf of the University, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your smooth graduation and best wishes for a bright future!”
She emphasized that amid the spreading and raging COVID-19 pandemic and the global social unrest and human crisis thus triggered, just because of the valiant dedication from the whole nation and the extraordinary endeavors from countless ordinary people, the Chinese spirit have shone brilliantly in the fight against the epidemic. This is a noble spirit of courage and responsibility and a professional spirit of tenacity, preciseness and pragmatism. It is about the patriotism that drives us to work together to help each other; it is about the heroism that drives us to share weal and woe and to fight to the end. It is a great spirit of creativity, struggle, unity and dreams! It is just the great spirit and the superior social system that enable us to win one victory after another!
In such a special period, President Chen hoped that HUTB graduates can carry forward the Chinese spirit and brilliantly move ahead, anytime and anywhere, for a meaningful life! She hoped that graduates can stick to four things: First, forever loving and serving the country. Graduates should keep upholding the banner of patriotism and sticking to the most profound and influential spiritual quality of the Chinese nation. Second, keep struggling. Graduates should keep fighting for their goals till the end of their lives, making permanent endeavor the brightest undertone of your lives. Third, forever maintaining openness and innovation. Graduates should adapt to the changes of the times and well handle the relationship between learning, work and life; they need to keep learning in their lifetime, always maintain independent thinking, and constantly improve their judgment, self-examination and innovation; they should change their destiny with knowledge and define their future with innovation! They should always be grateful to, cherish, and love life; they should run with hope and turn their life into the most beautiful scenery!
Finally, she stated emotionally, “Class, it's a long way ahead. Just set out to find your own life coordinates through boundless love and permanent endeavor in the limited life and the vast universe! Please remember that you are the very source of light, where HUTB, and its motto of “Sincerity & Credibility; Pragmatism & Innovation” shines brightly like a star. Please keep in mind this university that has gone all out for you! Today, you are about to depart for remote destinations, but unlike kites with broken strings, you will be always cared for, accompanied and missed by the University. We will be delighted to see you feel happy! You are always in the central position of your alma mater! Hunan University of Technology and Business pursuing excellence and perfection will always love you. We are forever family loving each other! I wish everyone a brilliant and splendid life with health and safety.”
On the ceremony, the leaders awarded degree certificates to the representatives of 2020 graduates, marking the most ceremonial moment of this event. Shaking hands, turning the tassels of trencher caps from the right to the left, pulling the trencher caps straight, granting certificates, and taking photos...... Each moment witnessed and affirmed students’ growth. With the heavy degree and graduation certificates in hand, the 2020 graduates integrated their love for their alma mater, teachers and friends into the firm oaths.
The ceremony rounded off with the teachers and students’ chorus of the “Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business” and “Ode to the Motherland”. From now on, all the 2020 graduates will set sail for a new journey and pursue their dreams for a promising future.
After the ceremony, the school leaders sent the graduates not personally present at the graduation ceremony graduation gift packs with the most sincere blessings. These gift packs contain a set of classic books, a set of school postcards, a set of bookmarks, and two T-shirts with the HUTB logo.
