HUTB Convenes On-site Meeting on Building and Development of School of Literature & Journalism

On the afternoon of June 16, HUTB held an on-site meeting on the buildingand development of the School of Literature & Journalism (SLJ) at the Conference Room 401 in the Second Office Building. The meeting was attended by President & Academician Chen Xiaohong, Vice Presidents Peng Jinqing and Liu Guoquan, the heads of such departments as the Party Committee Office, the PrincipalOffice, the Academic Affairs Division, the Personnel Division, the Scientific Research Administration Division, the Publicity Department, and the Youth League Committee as well as leadership members of SLJ and the leaders of its sub-departments and offices.
Peng Wenzhong, Executive Deputy Dean of SLJ, reported the buildingand development schemes for SLJ from the four aspects: “Facilitating the buildingof a first-class‘cultural HUTB’”, “Cultivating technological and business characteristics for SLJ’s leaping development” “Integrating industry, learning, research, and politics to create a world-class Research Institute of Hunan Merchants” and “Problems and Countermeasures”.
The heads of all departments put forward good opinions and suggestions from such aspects as the buildingof professional discipline and talent teams, talent training modes, creation of internship platforms, campus brand cultures, laboratory building, and scientific research. They expressed that they will fully support the buildingand development of LSJ.
Vice President Liu Guoquan believed that it is of great significance to promote the buildingand development of SLJ. He stated that HUTB’s relevant departments will roll out a series of supporting measures. Vice President Peng Jinqing believed that the positioning of “Cultural HUTB” and “SLJ with Technological and Business Characteristics”will further enrich HUTB’s cultural connotation and enable HUTB to cultivate talents more compatible with the social development.
Basing on the suggestions Professor Zheng Jiaming, the former dean of SLJ, put forward on the buildingand development of this School, President & Academician Chen Xiaohong made a layout for the buildingand development of SLJ. She required that the relevant departments attach great importance to the buildingand development of SLJ. Active support and cooperation and policy preference should be provided together to facilitate the great breakthroughs in the buildingand development of SLJ. SLJ should consider HUTB’s development of “New Engineering Courses” and “New Business Course” to find the correct positioning in the buildingof “New Liberal Arts Courses” and to form the buildingand development concept of “Cultural HUTB”; SLJ should take this opportunity to develop brand characteristics and highlights in business culture, Convergence Media, and researches on Hunan Merchant culture,striving to influencing the whole province and China; SLJ should develop an advantageous development direction to which the teacher and human resources gather, and form the aggregation effect; SLJ should step out of the University to actively cooperate with the society and enterprises on enhancing its subject strength; SLJ should full utilize the policy support HUTB provides, seize the opportunities to make greater contribution to HUTB’s development.
