16 Courses of HUTB Affirmed as Provincial First-class Undergraduate Courses

Recently, the Notice on Publishing Offline, Online & Offline and Social Practice ProvincialFirst-Class Undergraduate Coursesin 2019(XiangJiaoTong [2020] No.9Documentissued by Hunan Provincial Department of Education) shows that HUTB’s 16 courses includingthe course Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristicshave been affirmed as provincial first-class undergraduate courses, including 12 offline first-class undergraduate courses, 1 online & offline first-class undergraduate courses and 3 social practice first-class undergraduate courses.
In order to ensure the application-for-approval quality, HUTB attachedgreat importance to the recommendation, selection and cultivation of the three “golden courses”. Wenot only scientifically formulatedinternal evaluation index system for of the three “golden courses”, but also held promotion meetings atdifferent levels and ranges for the construction of first-class undergraduate courses. Under the meticulous organization of the Academic AffairsOffice, all 16 recommended courses have passed the provincial levelaffirmationafter being recommended by the colleges, evaluated by the internal and external experts, reviewed by the university teaching guidance committee, and approved by HUTB. A certain number of courses have been recommended for selection of nationalfirst-class undergraduate courses.
In the next stage, HUTB will take the first-class undergraduate coursesconstruction as an opportunity to carry out five “golden courses” construction in an all-round way, focus on the studentsdevelopment, set up new concepts for the courses onstruction, promote the courses reform and innovation, implement scientific courses evaluation, strengthen the coursesmanagement, improve the faculty’s teaching ability, build more “golden courses” with highlevel, innovativenessand challenge, perfect the quality-oriented courses construction incentive mechanism, and form a courses system thathighlights the discipline advantages, various types and diversification of HUTB.
