The Kick-off Meeting for the Major Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China Presided by The President & Academician Chen Xiaohong (General Leader) Held at Tsinghua University

On December 14, 2019, the kick-off meeting for the major project of National Natural Science Foundation of China (called as NSFC for short) - "research on theory and application of enterprise operation and service innovation management" presided by the President & Academician Chen Xiaohong is smoothly held at School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University.

Director of Management Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China-professor Wu Qidi and Deputy Directors of Management Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China-professor Yang Liexun and Researcher Liu Zuoyi as well as Division Head Wu Gang, members of expert steering group and main backbones of the project (more than 70 persons) attend the kick-off meeting. The kick-off meeting is presided over by professor Chen Jian from Tsinghua University and Researcher Zeng Dajun from Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Our university (leader) works with top research teams in related fields from well-known universities in China, such as Central South University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China and Shenzhen University and a batch of professors and young backbones with rich experience in scientific research and fruitful research achievements are gathered. Based on the project integrating strengths of many key laboratories and research centers in China, the project team forms a good and stable cooperative relationship with collaborative research, joint training of talents and positive communication and interaction. The major project is constituted by five important projects - "smart supply chain operation and service mode innovation", "research on intelligent logistics management theory and method", "design of omni-channel operation and service mode for new retail", "service operation mode and risk management of sharing economy platform" and "intelligent operation and management of environmental service enterprises". The President & Academician Chen Xiaohong serves as general project leader and undertake the research task of the important project - "intelligent operation and management of environmental service enterprises".

At the kick-off meeting, the director of Science Division of National Natural Science Foundation of China-professor Wu Qidi makes a speech on behalf of National Natural Science Foundation of China, expresses congratulations to all academicians, experts and scholars, emphasizes it's necessary to focus on interdisciplinary research in line with national demand and strive to obtain original and cutting-edge results. Persons in charge of the project - Professor Deng Tianhu (representing Professor Shen Zuojun of Tsinghua University), Professor Yang Feng (University of Science and Technology of China), Professor Zhou Yanju (Central South University), Professor Chen Yubo (Tsinghua University) and Academician Chen Xiaohong (Hunan University of Technology and Business) report research significance, research scheme, research content, research innovation, expected target and research plan arrangement of the corresponding projects undertaken in details from the aspects of "smart supply chain operation and service mode innovation", "research on intelligent logistics management theory and method", "design of omni-channel operation and service mode for new retail", "service operation mode and risk management of sharing economy platform" and "intelligent operation and management of environmental service enterprises" on behalf of 5 research groups of the major project.

At the moment of explaining overall objective and research plan of the project, the President & Academician Chen Xiaohong stresses the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century and change and uncertainty of the world's economic center of gravity, political pattern, process of globalization, global governance and Sino-US trade friction increase continuously, especially 5G technology, big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, mobile communication and gradual maturity as well as permeation and application of IoT are launching a new generation of scientific and technological revolution based on digitization as the core and driving the mankind to rapidly enter the age of intelligence and digital economy with industrial form, mode of production, enterprise operation and service mode also changing accordingly, new business models and economic paradigm incubated, deep changes in the global economy brewing from the ground up and new approach to the digital economy reshaped. For this purpose, we urgently need to conduct prospective study on major theories and methods in the China's enterprise operation and service innovation management in the era of digital economy in accordance with major strategic needs of the state.

Members of the project expert steering group (ranking as per family name (Pinyin)) - Professor Cai Gangshu (Santa Clara University), Professor Chen Jian (Tsinghua University), Professor Li Yijun (Harbin Institute of Technology), Academician Tang Lixin (Northeastern University), Professor Wang Fan (Sun Yat-sen University) and Researcher Zeng Dajun (Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences) comment and guide initiation and development of the project as well as give advice on the basis of expressing affirmation of project research content and plan. Experts agree that paying close attention to intelligent and green enterprise management based on data driving as principal line can further strengthen relevance, cohesion and benchmarking between various projects and the project integrity.

The Project Leader - Academician Chen Xiaohong and persons in charge of all projects say that they will earnestly understand and absorb comments and suggestions from guidance experts, deeply sort out the internal logic between major issues based on two keys - "green" and "data", more focus on the core scientific problem behind the enterprise operation and service innovation management decision, further extract the internal logic and the general law of enterprise management theory and method system under digital economy and construct the analysis model with high applicability to guide the practice of enterprise operation and service innovation management.

Ultimately, Deputy Director of Management Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China - Professor Yang Liexun makes a concluding speech and hopes that members of the project team will stay true to the mission, overcome difficulties, be of indomitable spirit, conduct research on the basis of national strategy and major needs, concentrate on originality of theory and guidance practice, produce significant results making an impression as well as actively lead and serve social life practice.
