[Lushan Lecture Room] Dean of School of Accounting of RMT University - Professor Steven Dellaportas Coming to Our University for Giving Lectures

On the morning of November 27, Lecture 99 of "Lushan Lecture Room" starts at the Yingcai Lecture Hall. Professor Steven Dellaportas - Dean of School of Accounting of RMT University, Editor-in-chief of Journal of Business ethicsand Associate Editor of Accounting Educationis invited to be the speaker of "Conversations with Inmate Accountants: Fraud, Motivation and Opportunity". More than 400 teachers and students of our university listen to the lecture.

Professor Steven will narrate the scientific frontier of accounting research based on the example-his qualitative research on accounting industry as well as the influence factor of accountant's fraud based on the trigonometric model of fraud as the entry point and interview data regarding four groups of male accountants sentenced to imprisonment due to fraud and related crimes as the object of study, especially the criminal will make use of his/her occupational identity-accountant to cheat at the moment of facing special crises that lead to criminal behavior. Professor Steven also points out: The crime rate of the white-collar accountant is higher than that of the management echelon accountant, criminal motive and opportunity influence each other and there are many opportunities for accountants committing a crime due to professional knowledge, information asymmetry and trust.
Professor Steven discusses and exchanges how to write a high-quality paper, submit a piece of writing for publication at a foreign language periodical and apply to study for master degree and doctoral degree of RMT University. In-depth knowledge of teachers and students of our university with respect to research methods for the accounting frontier is further deepened by the above academic forum. Steven Dellaportas is a professor of accounting from School of Accounting of RMIT University, a member of CPA Australia and an accounting historian with international reputation. He taught at Deakin University, La Trobe University and Federation University Australia successively who mainly studies Accounting Ethics, Education for Accounting and History of Accounting. He once published dozens of papers on such periodicals as Business Ethics Magazine, Critical Perspective of Accounting, Corporate Governance - An International Review, Accounting Literature Magazine, Accounting and Finance, Accounting Forum, Australian Accounting Review, Social Responsibility Magazine, Business Ethics Education Magazineand Education for Accounting.
