We have passed 70 years full of great hardships and difficulties, struggles and persistence. On the morning of November 23, our campus is dotted with colorful flags, filled with people and guests. Everywhere is full of the pleasant atmosphere. The Renaming Ceremony & the 70th Anniversary of Founding of Hunan University of Technology and Business was solemnly held in the gymnasium.
People who attended the activity included Wang Kemin, the Vice Director of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People' s Congress, Wu Guiying, the Vice Governor of Hunan Province, Zhang Zhuohua, the Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, including He Jishan, Sun Yongfu, Zhang Yaoxue, Zheng Jingchen, Cao Yaofeng, Nie Jianguo, Zhao Wenzhi, Ouyang Xiaoping, Jin Zhixin, Li Jiabiao, Lu Chunfang, Fan Guobin, Wu Zhiqiang, Chen Xiaohong, Zou Xuexiao, Dong Erdan and Tang Lixin, Hu Zhongxiong, the Mayor of the People's Government of Changsha City, Peng Xiang, the Deputy Secretary General of Hunan Provincial People's Government, Jiang Changzhong, the Leader of Hunan Provincial Education Department, leaders of relevant departments of Hunan Provincial Committee and Government, delegates of domestic and overseas brother universities, delegates of famous enterprises, delegates of previous schoolfellows, leaders of our University, delegates of retired colleagues and delegates of teachers and students and staff. The anniversary was chaired by Tang Yayang, the Secretary of the Party Committee of our University. President & Academician Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech.
In the magnificent sound of the national anthem, the anniversary began. On the anniversary, the reply of the Ministry of Education to our University's being renamed as "Hunan University of Technology and Business" was read. Deputy Director Wang Kemin, Vice Governor Wu Guiying, Vice President Zhang Zhuohua, Academician He Jishan, Academician Ouyang Xiaoping, Academician Lu Chunfang, Mayor Hu Zhongxiong, Head of the Education Department Jiang Changzhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School Tang Yayang, President & Academician Chen Xiaohong unveiled the nameplate of Hunan University of Technology and Business.
President & Academician Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech to warmly welcome people who attended the anniversary! Thank sincerely the vigorous supports and care of organizations at all levels, leaders, brother units and people from all walks of life for the school! Give wishes to all the teachers, students and staff on the anniversary! And give our best regards to over 120,000 schoolfellows of Hunan University of Technology and Business! She overviewed the 70 years of development history of the school, summarized 70 years of experience in running the school and looked forward to the vision of constructing a domestic first-class business university with outstanding contributions. She pointed that the road experienced for 70 years by Hunan University of Technology and Business is a road of pursuing for dreams on which the school serves the motherland and people, a road of education on which the school attracts many talents and cultivates many outstanding students, a road of development on which the school includes things of different properties and upholds innovation and a road of transcendence on which the school keeps pace with the times and develops itself into a first-class school. She said, developing the university into a domestic first-class business university which makes great contributions is the sacred mission endowed by the history as well as the strong call of the times and people. New era, new missions and new journey. Following the concept of "new engineering and new business", "technology + business", and simultaneous development of engineering and business and the goals of "five first-class aspects" and "six high aspects", the school will inherit the good school running tradition and master the situation of the new era to create glories of benefiting the society and people. People of Hunan University of Technology and Business will insist on realizing the great dream, uphold unified thoughts and belief, make concerted efforts, come down to the earth and overcome difficulties and hardships with determination continuously to march forward towards the goal of "first-class business university with outstanding contributions". Entrusted by Academician Hu Wenrui, the Director of the Engineering Management Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering, the former Deputy Department Manager of the standing committee of the Ministry of Railways and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a speech to show his congratulations to the 70thSchool Anniversary on behalf of the Engineering Management Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He hoped that the school could adhere to its original aspiration of keeping pace with national development and cultivating the talents for our country, insist on the innovation-driven development road, walk in the front of the times, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, enhance theories and practice, run a school with unique characteristics, hit new records, cultivate more innovation-based and entrepreneurship-based talents and make more teaching and research achievements. He wished that the Hunan University of Technology and Business could create new glories and make more contributions in the new journey!
Academician Nie Jianguao, Director of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University, gave his congratulations to the 70thSchool Anniversary on behalf of domestic brother universities and colleges. He expressed that, as a brother university, he felt happy from the heart for the rapid development of Hunan University of Technology and Business! Over the years, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management and Hunan University of Technology and Business have contacted frequently, both parties have established a wide cooperation relationship in terms of disciplinary development, talent cultivation, disciplinary research and academic exchange, and have forged a deep friendship. The conference commended winners of the "President Teaching Award", Nomination of "President Teaching Award", "Gratitude Teaching Award", "Academic Innovation Award", "Academic Newcomer Award", the First Prize of National Competition of the 16th"Challenge Cup" and the Gold Award of "Progressive Innovation Works". President & Academician Chen Xiaohong, alumni Ning Songkai and Li Wei presented awards to the representatives of the winners. Ning Songkai thanked university and teachers, and expressed his expectation and blessing for the future development of the university.
Tan Xiancai, the alumni representative and General Manager of Baker Tilly China Certified Public Accountants, expressed congratulations on the 70thanniversary of the university on behalf of the alumni. He recalled the unforgettable time when studying in the school, and thanked university and teacher for the cultivation. He said that he gained knowledge, understood thinking and exploration, and learned to be grateful and dedicated here. The alumni would adhere to the motto of "sincere and faithful, practical and innovative", win glory for university, pay attention to the university development from time to time, and contribute to the construction and development of the university.
Liu Siwei, teacher representative and senior professor of our university, reviewed the more than 30-year struggle course of sharing the same breath and destiny with the university. He said that the 70-year history of our university reflected the persistent pursuit and dedication of generations of university leaders and teachers, as well as the growth and gratitude of our alumni. After more than 30 years of teaching, he witnessed the development and glory of the university, and felt extremely proud. This year was the 70thanniversary of new China and our university, and also the 2570thanniversary of Confucius' birth. We should carry forward Confucius' educational concept and spirit while developing the Internet, big data, blockchain and other modern new technologies. We should take the lofty mission of developing the country through science and education, strengthening moral education and cultivating people, and become a high-level business university with distinctive characteristics of new technology and new business.
Vice Governor Wu Guiying extended warm congratulations and sincere wishes to all teachers, students and alumni at home and abroad on behalf of the People's Government of Hunan Province! She fully affirmed the university's achievements in the construction and development over the years, and put forward the requirements for the further development. She pointed out that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and we are closer to the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation than any other time in history. In the face of the new situation and new tasks, Hunan has carried out Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implemented the strategy of innovation and opening up, and built a new and prosperous Hunan. In the new era, for the development of higher education in our province, it was not only a rare experience, but also an important historical mission.
