Good morning!
Accompanying the struggles and glories of the People's Republic of China since it was founded 70 years ago, today, full of joy, we here solemnly hold the Unveiling NameplateCeremony & the 70th Anniversary of Hunan University of Technology and Business. Looking back to the eventful years on the road of reform and revolution, we will always insist on our determination of making endeavors and our dream of building our school into a first-class university. Here, please allow me to represent our school to show our warmest welcome to all the leaders, guests and domestic and overseas schoolfellows! Give our wishes to all the teachers and students as well as retired colleagues! And give our best regards to over 120,000 schoolfellows of Hunan University of Technology and Business!
On June 10, 2019, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China formally approved Hunan University of Commerce to be renamed as the Hunan University of Technology and Business. It is the fourth university of business in China and the sole university of business in Hunan Province. At that point, the wish of several generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business was realized. We fought for a new journey standing on a higher starting point.
Realization of goals relies on the struggles and efforts with the spirit of unity. Good results are based on the profound history of struggles. Looking back to the history, today we can still clearly feel the strong desire and the mission of the old generation's cultivating economic management talents to promote fast economic recovery as possible when the cadre training class was opened in the trade section of Changsha Municipal Military Affair Management Committee in December 1949.
We can still clearly feel the reputation and expectation of "base of cultivating economic talents of Hunan Province, cradle of creating professional entrepreneurs" given by all sectors of the society when the Hunan Junior College School of Business and Hunan Institute of Business Management Cadres were merged into Hunan University of Commerce in 1994.
We can still clearly feel the struggles and responsibilities manifested by our school as a newly-built ( 1999) undergraduate university in the process of smoothly passing the teaching work evaluation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and bringing a qualified university into the 21stcentury with joint efforts.
We can still clearly feel the joy and gratitude when our school won the "excellent" remark in the teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in 2006, won the "qualification of establishment and construction as a new unit of granting the master's degree" in 2008 and won the "qualification of granting the master's degree" in 2013.
What makes us feel more inspired and proud is that: Since 2014, our school has successively been given five national reputations and platform titles, including the Application-oriented University in the National Industry-education Cooperation Development Engineering of the "13thFive-Year Plan", One of the First Batch of Demonstration Institutes of Higher Education in the Reform of In-depth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education", One of the National Top 50 Institutes of Higher Education with Typical Experience of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, etc.; become a university which won the first prize, second prize and third prize in the Selection of Excellent Achievements of Humanities and Social Science of the Ministry of Education; realized spurt growth, such as International Technological Innovation Cooperation Base, Provincial Key Laboratory and Engineering Research Center, etc. In 2017, we realized historical breakthrough of possessing national top talent - academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; In 2018, we were approved to establish the project of constructing our school into a unit of conferring the doctor's degree and became a university of enrolling the first batch of undergraduates. In 2019, the school was renamed, software and hardware facilities were basically upgraded comprehensively, the 63,000 m2economic management building was built and waited to be put into use. The beautiful campus became more flourishing!
Over the past 70 years, from the founding of the People's Republic of China, starting of a new period and entering a new century, from standing on a new point to entering a new era, as our mother land rose, became wealthy and strong, our school has also become large and strong and has realized rapid development, and desires and pursuits of many scholars have come true.
Today, Hunan University of Technology and Business has stepped into the best and fastest development period. We are closer to the dream of China's first-class university than any historical period!
Over the past 70 years, we have never forgotten our dream nor stopped making efforts;over 70 years of efforts and fruits, Hunan University of Technology and Business has undergone many uncommon events. Over the past 70 years, we have made arduous efforts, which achieved out extraordinary spirits and cultures.
Over the past 70 years, we have formed the feeling of benefiting the society and people.The school was founded at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China. On the occasion when many things to be done, the school cultivated talents according to actual demands to develop the economy. Over the past 70 years, on the land of Hunan Province, we have always responded to the call and mission of the times, inherited the spirit of forging a strong country based on science and education, met industrial and commercial development needs, kept pace with the national development and rejuvenation and made contributions to the prosperity of our country, national rejuvenation and people's happiness.
Over the past 70 years, we have cohered the spirit of strong mind and self-improvement.Generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business have faced difficulties bravely, have never been set back and have kept the enthusiasm on the road of fighting, so we have gradually formed the school motto of "sincerity, integrity, honesty and innovation" and the school spirit of "virtue, erudition, practice and self-improvement" which have guided generations of students to achieve good results in various competitions, including the "Internet+", "Challenge Cup", etc. Our students were well trained in the social practice of "program of spreading scientific and literacy knowledge and medical service to farmers" and have developed into the backbone of the country with fine qualities and high learning. Talented schoolfellows also won honors for their alma mater with their styles of self-improvement, diligence and practice.
Over the past 70 years, we have cohered the concept of seeking for truth and innovation. People of Hunan University of Technology and Business always devotes itself to helping students learn about themselves, the society, China and the world, always focuses on national major demands and regional realistic problems with the attitude of rigorous scholarship, has made significant achievements in many fields, such as industry transformation and upgrading, ecological civilization and green development, digital economy, wisdom management, commerce and trade circulation, combating corruption and upholding integrity and poverty alleviation and has played an important role in talent cultivation, scientific research, social service and cultural inheritance and innovation.
Over the past 70 years, we have cohered the ideal of pursuing for excellence.From "cultivating business talents urgently needed in revitalizing the economy" to "bringing one qualified university into the 21stcentury" and from "constructing a comprehensive business school" to "constructing a high-level business school with distinctive characteristics", successive struggle goals were put forward at these different development stages, which embodied the vivid picture that generations of people of the school seized each major opportunity to realize the historical span one step by one step.
These precious spirits and cultural treasures have been internalized in the heart of generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business, manifested in the spirits of generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business and developed in actions of generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business, providing a source of everlasting power for development of the school.

Difficulties and hardships help people achieve success. Looking back to the 70 years of progress, we deeply feel that: The road chosen by Hunan University of Technology and Business is a road of pursuing for dreams on which the school serves the motherland and people, a road of education on which the school attracts many talents and cultivates many outstanding students, a road of development on which the school includes things of different properties and upholds innovation and a road of transcendence on which the school keeps pace with the times and develops itself into a first-class school. The 70 years of development history is a history of entrepreneurship where generations of people of Hunan University of Technology and Business forged ahead hand in hand, a history of struggle where all the teachers and students explored with keen determination as well as a development history where leaders at all levels and all the sectors of the society provided us with vigorous supports.
Today when we celebrate the leaping development of our school, we shouldn't forget the correct leadership and kind care of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, departments at all levels of Hunan Province and Changsha City, shouldn't forget vigorous supports of brother universities and colleges, enterprises and public institutions as well as all the sectors of the society, shouldn't forget the unity and struggle of all the teachers and students, especially we shouldn't forget the deep feeling of domestic and overseas schoolfellows for their alma mater as well as their eager concern about and full supports for construction and development of their alma mater.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that "we should insist on running education solidly on the land of China, insist on developing education by taking people as the core, insist on deepening education reform and innovation and insist on taking serving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as an important mission of education". Developing the university into a domestic first-class business university which makes great contributions is the sacred mission endowed by the history as well as the strong call of the times and people.
We deeply realize that cultivating first-class students is the core mission of a university.
We must firmly hold the fundamental task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, adhere to the people-oriented principle and promote comprehensive development to drive construction of a talent-based strong country.
