[The 70th Anniversary of Founding] The Opening Ceremony of Economic Management Building A Sponsored by Alumnus Chen Yong Was Held in Our University

In the afternoon of November 9, the opening ceremony of Economic Management Building A Sponsored by Alumnus Chen Yong was held in our university. President & Academician Chen Xiaohong, Xia Jichun, former Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of our university and Executive Vice President of Alumni Association, alumnus Chen Yong, heads of School of Computer Science & Information Technology and relevant departments, and alumni representatives attended. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Xia Jichun. President Chen and alumnus Chen Yong jointly unveiled the "Hengxuan Building".
Alumnus Chen Yong said that he returned to the university 14 years after graduation and was very excited to see the tremendous changes. He said that his achievements were inseparable from the careful teaching and cultivation of teachers in those years, as well as the good learning environment and conditions provided by the university, and he could help the development of the university with his modest efforts. He sincerely hoped that the university could be better and better, and wished the 70thanniversary a complete success.
In her speech, President & Academician Chen Xiaohong said that "Hengxuan Building" was the first building named by alumnus who made contributions to the university in the history, which was of great significance to the campus culture construction, talent cultivation, cultural heritage and motivation on students. Our development was inseparable from the full support of the alumni. Our reputation also benefited from the outstanding performance of the alumni. Alumni would always be the precious resources and inexhaustible driving force for our development. On behalf of all teachers, students, staff and alumni of the university, she expressed sincere thanks to the alumni who have quietly contributed to the motherland in many posts.
She pointed out that with the opportunity of naming, we would carry forward the alumni culture, publicize the gratitude culture, inherit the motto spirit of "Sincere and Faithful, Practical and Innovative", implement the basic task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, promote the "double first-class" construction, and strive to achieve the goal of "three improvements" and high-level business university. We would also strive to integrate new technology and new business, jointly develop the business and technology, develop new information technologies such as AI, big data and blockchain by relying on the new round of the information technology revolution, promote the technological and industrial transformation, and make greater contributions to the powerful nation of science and technology.
She hoped that alumni would often come back to pay attention to our development, and wished all alumni good health, all the best and more brilliant career!
It was reported that alumnus Chen Yong graduated from computer major of our university in 2005, founded Guangzhou Yaowan Entertainment Network Technology Co., Ltd. in 2008, and has been the CEO of the company. On the occasion of the 70thanniversary of the university, he donated RMB 10 million to support our construction and development. In order to express respect and gratitude to the alumnus Chen Yong for his gratitude to teachers and deep friendship with the university, we decided to name Economic Management Building A "Hengxuan Building".
