The Opening Ceremony of 2019-class Freshmen Was Held

On Sep. 22, our university held a grand opening ceremony for 2019-class freshmen in the track-and-field ground of the north campus. Tang Yayang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, President Chen Xiaohong, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice Presidents Peng Jinqing, Zeng Fuqiu and Li Dingjun, University Leader Nie Guoqing, and Yang Liangqi, Gan Dejian and Chen Ming, members of the Party Committee of the University, attended. The heads of the secondary schools, the director of the university office, the counselors of the freshman class, the parent representatives, all instructors and 2019-class freshmen attended the ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Zeng Fuqiu.
The opening ceremony kicked off with a solemn flag-raising ceremony.
Later, the representatives of freshmen, undergraduates and postgraduates expressed their love for the university and yearning for a new life by reciting. Li Yue, a 2018-class postgraduate of the School of Business Administration, and Yang Peisen, a 2016-class undergraduate of the School of Design Art, recalled the past of growing up together with Hunan University of Technology and Business. They said they would never forget their original intentions, keep the mission of young people in mind, and light the way forward with ideals and beliefs. Wen Zexiong, a 2019-class postgraduate of Institute of Big Data and Internet Innovation, and Hao Siting, a 2019-class freshman of School of Law and Public Management, shared the joy of entering Hunan University of Technology and Business. They said that as freshmen, they would cherish their precious youth, adhere to their ideals, come down to earth, diligently study, lay a solid foundation for knowledge, accumulate the strength to move forward, dare to explore and break through, and achieve the unity of knowing and doing, lighting the hope of youth.
Zhang Jian, associate professor of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, on behalf of all teachers, warmly welcomed the arrival of 2019-class freshmen, and made a promise to the students: firstly, you should form a good habit of independent study and cultivate your own innovation ability. Secondly, you should be kind to others, make more intimate friends, and improve self-cultivation and connotation. Thirdly, you should have the spirit of not afraid of hardship and fatigue and not giving up, as well as the firm and indomitable will, and plan university life well.
On behalf of more than 20,000 teachers and students and more than 120,000 alumni, President & Academician Chen Xiaohong congratulated and welcomed all freshmen and delivered a speech entitled "Empower the Growth and Lead the Era". She said that: "you would surely spend your youth and meet better yourself at Hunan University of Technology and Business!"
She made an in-depth analysis of the current domestic and international situation and told the students that: we are in an era where the "two centenary goals" are being achieved and will soon be achieved. We will create a bright future for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Born in a flourishing age, you will have a brilliant future! But you should fight for the realization of great dreams. you need to cultivate the will, spirit and quality of a soldier, and be ready to fight and win like a soldier! You should study to build the motherland into the world's first technological and economic power!
She pointed out that in this highly developed smart era, we should have three attitudes. Firstly, we should actively embrace the smart era. Secondly, we should seriously reflect on the smart era. Thirdly, we should transcend the smart era unremittingly. We should stand on a higher mountain than intelligent technology, to do things that are difficult for intelligent technology to do, and even to guide the direction of intelligent technology.
She said that university is the place that still leads you to keep innovation and self-revolution in the era of subversive change, and the place that gives energy to your growth. How do you empower growth and what core competencies do you possess? She gave three suggestions to the students: First of all, you need to strive to empower growth with original intention and awaken our ideality. You must form the habit of excellence, diligence and civilization! You must make all efforts and fight hard to move yourself. Secondly, You should empower their growth through hard work and good thinking and stimulate their creativity. The important mission of university learning is to realize a qualitative leap in own innovation consciousness and ability. Thirdly, you should empower growth with rational self-discipline and improve self-control. You should make your will as strong as steel, and make your life as bright as sunshine and as vast as the sea.
President & Academician Chen Xiaohong told students that: university is not for fun, and you cannot be muddling along. You must have the big pursuit, abstruse knowledge and rapid growth. At Hunan University of Technology and Business, which is all for students and for all students, you should be out of the comfort zone, and not be a giant baby, parasite or spineless person. In the era of great change and development, you should persevere in a self-revolution of growth, and work hard in the field of youth, so that the youth can bloom to the fullest! You can all better grow up in Hunan University of Technology and Business, which pursues the excellence and first-class, and become a new generation who will always be dedicated to the motherland and lead the future!
After listening to President Chen's passionate speech, all freshmen solemnly swear: "love the country and obey the law, conduct based on sincerity, concerned about people in the whole world, dare to assume, study hard, struggle hard, be polite and cultivate oneself, focus on action, feel grateful to parents, determined to talent, cherish the time, live up to expectations, form the habit of excellence, diligence and civilization and realize the youthful dreams with passion and struggle. The young are strong, the country is strong. The young are wisdom, the country is wisdom!"
In order to celebrate the 70thanniversary of the great motherland, all teachers and students waved a small flag and sang Song of Our Homelandwith passion to express their love and blessing for the motherland.
