In the afternoon of Jun. 26, Zhang Wenbin, Deputy Director-general of the Ideological and Political Department of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, came to the university to investigate the Party construction and ideological & political work. Tang Yayang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Our University, and Vice President Zeng Fuqiu participated in the investigation. Leaders and counselors of Party Committee and Government Office, Organization Department, Publicity Department, Student Affairs Department, Youth League Committee, Security Office, Institute of Marxism and other relevant units attended the symposium.
Secretary Tang Yayang welcomed Deputy Director-general Zhang Wenbin and his delegation to the university for the investigation on behalf of the university, thanked Ideological and Political Department of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China for its long-term care, support and guidance, briefly introduced the development of the university, and reported the development of ideological and political work. He put forward some thoughts on the Party's political construction, ideological and political work, counselor team construction, grass-roots Party Branch construction and other issues. He said that the university would continue to adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the requirements of the central government, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and Provincial Party Committee on ideological and political work, integrate ideological and political work into the whole process of education and teaching, implement the basic task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, seek support through contributions, seek development through services, and push the businesses of the university to a new level.
The participants made speeches from aspects of ideological and political education, psychological education, Party construction among students, career planning of counselors, etc., and put forward their own thoughts on the existing problems in the current Party construction and ideological & political work in colleges and universities.
After listening to the report, Deputy Director-general Zhang Wenbin gave full affirmation to the Party construction and ideological & political work of our university. He stressed that we should carry out the overall work of the university by following Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Party Central Committee attached great importance to Party construction and ideological & political work in colleges and universities. General Secretary Xi Jinping has made important instructions several times that universities should study, understand and implement according to the actual conditions. He proposed that ideological and political workers should study and think about the new spirit and requirements of education in the new era. Education is a grand plan of the country and the Party, which shall serve the people, CPC governance and administration, consolidation of socialist system with Chinese characteristics, and cultivation of builders and successors for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We should also grasp the new situation and challenges. We should find the gap and implement based on the core issues of "what kind of person should we cultivate? How to cultivate people? Who should we cultivate people for?" We should not forget the original intention of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, and keep the mission of cultivating socialist builders and successors in mind.
Deputy Director-general Zhang Wenbin gave specific guidance on the career development path of counselors, the counselor team construction, the Party's political leadership, the branch construction quality and other issues proposed by our university. He gave five suggestions on how to conduct ideological and political work well in colleges and universities: firstly, we should combine mind and body, always adhere to the basis task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, cultivate qualified builders and successors and constantly innovate the ideological and political work forms to make meaningful things interesting. Secondly, we should take into account teachers and students, strengthen the construction of professional ethics, cultivate high-quality teacher teams, and strengthen the teachers' ability in ideological and political work while doing a good job in ideological and political work for students. Thirdly, we should get refined internally and externally, link on and off campus, curricular and extra-curricular and internal and external networks, integrate the Party's claims, ideas and thoughts into the course classroom, teaching program and assessment system, to improve the pertinence and effectiveness of ideological and political work. Fourthly, we should implement the rule by morality and law, improve our political position, strengthen our legal awareness, and observe laws and disciplines. Fifthly, we should use gentle methods and force, adhere to the bottom line in classroom management, position construction and other aspects, implement the ideological responsibility system, carry out in-depth and detailed work, and moisten things silently.
