Great News: Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China Officially Approved to Change the Name of Our University to Hunan University of Technology and Business

Recently, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China has written to the People's Government of Hunan Province, agreeing to change the name of Hunan University of Commerce (HNUC) to Hunan University of Technology and Business.
Hunan University of Technology and Business is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city, Yuelu District in the south, Xiangjiang River in the East, with a school-running history of 70 years. It is a provincial full-time general institute of higher education focusing on economics and management, covering economy, management, technology, science, law, culture, art and other disciplines, one of the first-batch universities enrolling the undergraduates led by academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and a large number of outstanding talents, an excellent university in undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, a doctoral degree awarding construction unit, an application-oriented undergraduate institution under national industry-education integration development project of "the 70thFive-year Plan", a practical education, innovation and entrepreneurship base of universities in the whole country, one of the first batch of top 70 "demonstration universities of deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform", and a national maker space.
The university has three distinctive features: firstly, the scientific research level has improved significantly. In the Excellent Achievement Award of Studies in Human Society of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the university is the only university in Hunan Province that has won the first, second and third prizes, of which the first prize fills the gap in the province, and the university has also won the Hunan Guangzhao Science and Technology Award and the first prize of the Application of Excellent Achievements in Social Sciences; the total number of NSSFC projects ranked the first among the universities named "School" in the past 12 years. Secondly, the comprehensive discipline strength has been greatly improved. The comprehensive strength of Management Science and Engineering, Applied Economics, Business Administration, Theoretical Economics and other disciplines ranks in the forefront of colleges and universities in the province and has entered the top 100 in the country. Six first-class disciplines were selected into the "Ranking of the Best Disciplines in China" released by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy in 2018, of which Management Science and Engineering ranked in the top 10%, ranking 21st in China and 1st in universities in the province. Thirdly, the effect of the talent cultivation is obvious. The university focuses on cultivating business specialty innovation and entrepreneurship application-oriented talents, and has formed the brand effect of "business + mass entrepreneurship and innovation", strongly supporting the high-quality development of regional economy, and delivering more than 110,000 outstanding graduates to the society, so that it is widely known as "the Base of Cultivating the Economic Hunan Army and the Cradle of Cultivating Professional Entrepreneurs".
