Governor Xu Dazhe and Chinese Ambassador to Ireland Yue Xiaoyong Unveiled the “Big Data and Technology Innovation Center” Jointly Established by HNUC and Dublin University of Technology.

On the morning of April 1, Xu Dazhe, Governor of Hunan Provincial People's Government, Yue Xiaoyong, Ambassador to Ireland, Academician Chen Xiaohong, President of HNUC, and Professor Fitzpatrick, President of Dublin University of Technology jointly unveiled the "Big Data and Technological Innovation Center" of Hunan University of Commerce-Dublin University of Technology.
In his speech, Governor Xu Dazhe introduced in detail the innovation leading and open rise strategy of Hunan Province, and the regional advantages as a great province in agriculture, ecology and manufacturing industry, and expressed special emphasis on innovation and development in the fields of science and technology and education, gave full recognition of Dublin University of Technology's international competitiveness in data analysis, machine learning, language technology, intelligent agency and security, and also highly praised the series of collaborative research results that Hunan University of Commerce and Dublin University of Technology have achieved in the field of “Big Data and Technology Innovation”. Governor Xu said that he would promote Ireland and Hunan Province to continuously expand cooperation areas and share development experience, and wished that Hunan University of Commerce and Dublin University of Technology will jointly build an innovation center as an opportunity to achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefit.
Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong said in his speech that the second session of the 13th National People's Congress was just concluded, emphasized that China will implement the innovation-driven development strategy and further expand international innovation cooperation. The big data and technology innovation centers jointly built by universities in China and Ireland meet the requirements of the times and domestic development strategies. At present, human beings face many common challenges. Colleges and universities in various countries have the responsibility to cultivate the ability of the younger generation to jointly meet challenges and build a community of human destiny through international cooperation and multicultural construction. Ambassador Yue pointed out that in recent years, China and Ireland have achieved fruitful cooperation in higher education. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland. Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong was looking forward to the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in this field leap to a new level.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, President of HNUC, expressed the heartfelt thanks to Governor Xu Dazhe and Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong for attending the opening ceremony of the “Big Data and Technology Innovation Center” jointly established by HNUC and Dublin University of Technology. President, Academician Chen also pointed out that Hunan University of Commerce has carried out many scientific researches in the frontier areas of big data analysis and application, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Internet of Things, Focusing on the development trend of digital new technologies, strive to build a “Smart +” technology and management system; closely adhere to the “New Engineering” talent training requirements, Sino-foreign countries jointly explore innovative talent training models, that have established excellent talent classes such as digital economy and smart management, formed a brand of innovative entrepreneurship education, and won a series of national brand honors. This cooperation with Dublin University of Technology, which has outstanding achievements in related fields, is an important step in the international cooperation and scientific research innovation of HNUC, and President, Academician Chen Xiaohong is looking forward to the cooperation between the two sides with fruitful results.
HNUC and Dublin University of Technology (formerly Dublin Institute of Technology) have been working together in environmental protection, tourism and health since 2016. The big data and technology innovation center established this time combines the major needs of China's national big data development strategy, to make full use of the advantages of the two universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data technology, blockchain technology, strengthen decision-making and management of precise pollution control and mobile financial security.
