HNUC Students Won Many Awards in "the Urban Management Competition of the 3rd National University Students "

From Oct. 12 - 14, under the organization of National Urban Management Professional Teaching Supervisory Committee and Urban Management Professional Committee of The Regional Science Association of China, the final of the 3rd National University Student Urban Management Competition was held in Capital University of Economics and Trade. The 6 representative teams selected by our University performed well and won 2 items of first prizes and 4 items of second prizes and the total score ranked top among the participated colleges and universities.
In the fierce competition with more than 300 undergraduate works from more than 70 colleges and universities, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Macau University of Science and Technology and Taiwan Ming Chuan University, the reform project of "separating rural land ownership rights, contract rights, and management rights" of house site guided by Doctor Luo Huping and cultural heritage and protection project of Fenghuang Ancient City guided by Doctor Long Pu performed well. Liuyang City Homestead reform group made a stage pose with a song of Liuyang River companied by dances, and the cultural heritage team of Fenghuang Ancient City wore ethnic minority costumes, becoming a highlight of the competition area. By virtue of the expert application of the professional knowledge, excellent defense and flexible response to the questions of the judges, the two projects won national first prize, and Doctor Luo Huping and Long Pu were awarded with the honorable title of "Excellent Instructor". In addition, the other 4 works that were selected for the final also won the national second prize.
The "National University Student Urban Management Competition" is the most important national discipline competition in this field, aiming at examining the students' ability to solve practical problems by applying relevant theories. Since the launch of this Urban City Management Competition in Dec. 20017, Administrative Office of Party Committee paid high attention, and School of Law and Public Management, Office of Academic Affairs, Youth League Committee and other secondary units provided full cooperation. In the early stage, they made careful preparation, organized the topic selection and argumentation, investigated and obtained evidence, wrote and modified the texts. In the later stage, they strengthened the training, organized the rehearsal and simulated the defense. Under the guidance of experts inside and outside the university, 7 teams were selected to participate in the qualification trial in middle regions held by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Finally, 6 of them were selected for the national final. During the final, Professor Xia Jichun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our University who was studying in Beijing, visited the contestants and cheered them up.
The competition with students from famous universities inspected the professional quality and practical ability of our students majoring in Urban Management. With the actual scores, the participating students showed the spirit of confidence and progress and rigorous and realistic learning attitude of students from Hunan University of Commerce. Meanwhile, they also showed the persistent pursuit and initial effect of public management discipline in the cultivation of innovative talents and popularization of the elite competition. (Liu Juan)
