From Sep. 15-16, HNUC ushered in the first batch of new students with "post-2000 generation" as the main body, and the campus was filled with the joy of "new students".

It is reported that in 2018, our University recruited 6,383 students from 30 provinces and municipalities, including 243 postgraduate students and 5,910 undergraduate students (including 240 students from the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Undergraduate Program of International Business School, and 1,626 students from Beijin College), and 230 junior college students. It is the first time for HNUC to enroll the first batch of undergraduate students within the province, and the student source quality reached a new level again. In addition, the cut-off line of liberal arts students is 583 scores, that of the science students is 528 scores, and there are 46 students with the scores exceeding 600 scores, ranking the first place among the colleges and universities that become a key university in the recent period within the province. The highest score of the liberal arts students is 620 scores, with 51 scores higher than the provincial control line for the key universities; The highest score of the science students is 586 scores, with 67 scores higher than the provincial control line for the key universities.

Big data welcome "Millennium babies"

Among the new students recruited in this year, there are 2,680 students born in 2000, accounting for 63% of the new students. The youngest "cute freshman" was born in 2004 and is only 14 years old. The "post-2000" generation officially enter into the campus of HNUC.

For Chinese family names, there are 274 names among the new students of HNUC, and the top five names are "Liu", "Li", "Chen", "Zhang" and "Wang", and there is only one student for the rare names, such as "Tan", "Si" and "Ci".

In addition, among new students recruited in 2018, in addition to the Han nationality, there are 305 new students from 27 ethnic minorities, and most of them are from the Tujia nationality, the Miao nationality, the Yao nationality, the Hui nationality and the Dong nationality, which jointly constitute a big new students' family of HNUC.

Among the new students from the whole country, there are 3302 students from Hunan Province, and most of them come from Changsha, Hengyang, Shaoyang, Changde and Yueyang; There are 982 students from other provinces, and most of them come from Henan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and Shandong.

Online welcome of the new students is conducted, which is convenient and efficient

The registration in this year adopted the online and offline methods simultaneously. In addition to the traditional on-site registration of new students, the digital method to welcome the new students brought convenience for new students and parents. Before the on-site registration, new students can register their basic personal information and complete other processes through the official website of the University, query his or her class through E-class, and check the information related to the dormitory number, roommates and counselor in advance through the WeChat official account of the University.

The application of the green channel for new students can be completed online. According to the information, except for handling the student-originate-based loans, the new students with financial difficulties can register in the University firstly and issue the Application for Delaying the Payment of Tuition. The student financial assistance management center of our University said that the University would resolutely implement the policy that never let any student drop out due to the financial difficulties of the family. The online application of the green channel brought the convenient and meticulous service to new students and parents, ensuring that new students with financial difficulties can be smoothly enrolled.

In order to provide new students with warm and comfortable living environment, during the summer holiday, the University renovated Cuiya 3# -6# and updated the furniture. Apartment Center revised and printed 4,000 volumes of Student Apartment Life Guide and 3,000 volumes of Notice on Life in Student Apartment, and also wrote and issued Q&A on Life in Student Apartment and Safety Measures on Life in Student Apartment.

Special "new" methods to welcome new students

The functional departments of the University and secondary colleges made enough preparations for welcoming the new students. In addition to traditional procedures to welcome the new students, the new students can receive different small gifts, eat the self-made cakes by the senior schoolmates, receive hand-painted maps of HUNC and postcards, take photos in the "HNUC Headline" template as a souvenir. Moreover, the new students can sign names on the signature wall to place their yearning for the college life; They also can press their fingerprints on the fingerprint wall to describe the blueprint of the college life. The forms to welcome new students are various and full of creativity.

The publicity boards, such as "Hello, new students" in front of Lezhi Building, "My College Life Begins in 2018" beside Chufeng Pavilion, "In HNUC, Never Living Up to Youth just to meet a better self" in the Yingcai Plaza, and "Welcome - New Masters of HNUC" in everywhere, expressed the warm welcome to the new students and became a beautiful scenery for new students to take photos with their parents.

In the entrance of the student departments, "Fu Huan (a male in a TV series) will never wait for Wei Yingluo (a heroine in a TV series), but the apartment is waiting for you", "Do you know what the department lack? You", "Why does the air in the apartment become sweet when you come" and other "common but sweet lover's honeyed words" were interesting and attractive.  At the stairway of the student apartment, there are tips writing "student should register and live in the dormitory by themselves, and parents had better not enter", and parents responded and went to the parents' lounge to rest. They said that although they would like to accompany their children to complete this big step in their life, they hope that children would be able to change their roles more quickly and cultivate the independent personality.

In the North Campus, the three photo walls formed the main publicity position of this year's "Independent Registration, Welcome of New Students with Culture". The initiative that "First Class in HNUC is Independent Registration" support the 2018 new students to independently complete the registration processes; The sector that "Power of Examples and Inheriting the Spirit of HNUC" showed the deeds of outstanding alumni, and set a model for the new students;  In the sector that "HNUC, I am coming", students took photos and sign the names to keep the most beautiful memory for new students.  New Students who celebrated their birthdays during the registration period also received the birthday cakes and meal coupons from the University.

The secondary colleges also adopted the unique methods. School of Accounting set up a lottery turntable and those completed the tasks can obtain rich gifts. Foreign Language Colleges prepared vocabulary books of College English Test Band 4 for new students, and "won" with the college characteristics.
