President Chen Xiaohong attended the 12th China Engineering Management (Smart City) Forum and Made a Conference Report

No. 269 China Engineering Technology Forum and 12th China Engineering Management (Smart City) Forum was held in Shenzhen under the joint organization of Chinese Academy of Engineering, People's Government of Shenzhen, Small Town Development and Reform Center of National Development and Reform Commission and Central South University Business School. More than 1,500 people attended the conference, including the academicians of CAS and CAE, including President Academician Chen Xiaohong, leaders of local governments, representatives of international organizations, guests from well-known enterprises at home and abroad, experts and scholars from world-renowned colleges and universities and research institutions, guest representatives of domestic and foreign media and industry associations.

With the theme of "Smart City, Better Life", this forum aimed to discuss, communicate and share the latest research achievements by surrounding the advance fields of construction of the smart cities and offer advice and suggestions for the construction of new smart cities in China. During the forum, more than 40 academicians, 500 experts and representatives from home and abroad attended the forum. There were 21 keynote and theme reports, and 49 sub-forum reports that conducted the professional, forward-looking and wonderful discussions on "Smart City Construction and Engineering Management", among which, there were 20 reports from Chinese and foreign academicians.
President Academician Chen Xiaohong made a wonderful report titled "Exploration and Practice of Intelligent Environment Protection in Smart City", and served as the host of the sub-forum "Smart City: Forum for Young Scholars". Academician Chen Xiaohong pointed out that regarding the intelligent environment protection as an important content for the construction of the smart city was a common appeal and general trend of the city development in the world, and the construction of the smart city also brought the new opportunity and challenges to the environment protection industry. The accurate analysis of big data based on the environmental monitoring also provided a basis for the establishment of the relevant regulations and ecological compensation standards. The construction of the auditing system of the ecological environment, decision-making support and management system, livelihood service system of the intelligent environment protection and emergency integration and intelligent system will make citizens live in a greener, safer and more convenient way. The intelligent environment protection will make more contributions to the construction of the smart city.

On the closing ceremony, the Organization Committee issued Construction of Smart City -- Shenzhen Consensus. Consensus includes seven aspects: First, it is urgent to raise the construction of the smart city to a strategic height; Second, the comprehensive planning, coordination and cooperation are required by the construction of the smart city; Third, the construction of the smart city requires establishing the scientific decision-making mechanism; Fourth, the information engineering work should be done well for the construction of the smart city; Fifth, the construction of the smart city requires optimizing the implementation of the standard gradient; Sixth, the construction of the smart city requires strengthening the legislation to ensure the safety. Last, the construction of the smart city must insist on the people-oriented principle.

China Engineering Management Forum aims to study the engineering management theory and practice in China and discuss the key problems of the engineering management development. This year is the 12nd year that the forum is held successfully. The two-day forum was held together with the 4th China Smart City International Expo.
