President Chen Xiaohong Attended the 4th Investment in Africa Forum

In Sep., the wind of Changsha is gentle and pleasant, and the autumn sky is clear and the air is crisp. As one of the highest level international conferences held in Hunan in recent years, the 4th Investment in Africa Forum was held in Changsha. More than 400 Chinese and foreign guests, including two heads of African and more than 30 officers with the vice-ministerial level or above, gathered in Changsha to create a cooperation and win-win event. Under the cosponsoring of Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, People's Government of Hunan Province, China Development Bank and World Bank, and focusing on the theme of "deepening investment cooperation with Africa and promoting the sustainable development of China-Africa cooperation and share the prosperity", the forum conducted a series of themed activities, such as the round-table meeting, thematic forum and the promotion conference of investment cooperation projects with Africa, to further build a consensus and open up a new situation of China-Africa investment cooperation.
Academician Chen Xiaohong, President of our University, was invited to participate in the thematic forum on the digital economy and innovation as the guest speaker. As the first guest speaker of China, she put forward her own unique views on the development of China's digital economy and its referential significance to Africa. She pointed out that: "China has benefited from the digital economy, and China's digital economy has exceeded RMB 26 trillion in 2017, with a year-on-year growth of 17%, which is significantly higher than the GDP growth in the same period. The digital economy has changed China's production, life and consumption patterns from all aspects. China's colleges and universities and vocational schools, including middle schools, have been conducting the digital transformation in discipline construction, curriculum setting and talent cultivation to meet the needs of the development of the digital economy. In addition, the traditional industries also increasingly emphasize the grafting, crossover, intersected and integrated development. With a lot of successful experience in the digital economy, China can help Africa realize the digital transformation, and further realize the reform and innovation in new technology, new form of industry and new pattern."
Meanwhile, the invited guest speaker also included Director of Digital Development Bureau of World Bank, Minister of Ministry of Finance of South Africa, Minister of Industry and Investment Ministry of Djibouti, and General Manager of Huawei Mobile Payment and so on. After the forum, Academician Chen Xiaohong was also invited to accept the exclusive interview of Hunan Satellite TV, Hunan Economic Television Station and other media. (Party and Government Office)
