[Lushan Lecture Hall] Prof. Song Jingsheng of Duke University was Invited to Give Lecture at the University

On Jun. 22, Prof Song Jingsheng of Fuqua School of Business of Duke University was invited to give a lecture at the Lushan Lecture Hall as the 75th speakers on the theme of "My Recent Research on Global Operations". The lecture was presided over by Vice-president Li Dingjun, and the attendees were the teachers and students of the university, experts and scholars outside the university.

Prof. Song Jingsheng is the lifetime professor of Operations Management at Fuqua School of Business of Duke University, and was selected as MSOM Fellow, INFORMS Fellow in 2017. His research topics include planning and design of inventory and logistics system, global supply chain management and sustainability, e-commerce channel design, etc. He has published more than 60 articles in the international top and famous academic journals such as Management Science, Operation Research and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), and has been awarded research funds for many times by the National Science Foundation. And he was awarded as Overseas Outstanding Youth of National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2003, Professor of Yangtze River Lecture of Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in 2009, and Global Experts of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (Short-term) in 2015.
Prof. Song first summarized the evolution of supply chain research, concluded the corresponding research topics for different stages of the evolution of supply chain, and put forward the main research direction of supply chain at present - globalization and technicalization. She analyzed the impact and changes on the operation and management of supply chain brought about by the global market environment and advance in science and technology. And she specifically expounded how to carry out researches on the operation and management of the supply chain under the context of globalization and technicalization in combination with her own researches, with emphasis on the research directions such as "Supply Chain + Big Data", "Supply Chain + Block Chain" and "Supply Chain + IOT".
During the interactive session, the participating teachers and students enthusiastically responded and actively asked questions. Prof. Song Jingsheng answered the questions warmly, not only discussed the report topic in depth, but also taught some academic experience and methods.
This lecture is plentiful, which makes the present teachers and students have a more profound understanding of the supply chain, broadens the thinking of conducting academic research between teachers and students in the university, and has a good guiding significance to create a strong academic environment in the university.
