School Leaders and Alumni Surveyed on Industrial Poverty Alleviation

On March 3, vice secretary of the University’s Party Committee Xia Jichun, secretary of school’s Discipline Inspection Commission Chen Liying and his delegation went to Xingdong Village to research industrial poverty alleviation. Deputy secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, director of the Supervision Office Zhu Bin, alumni entrepreneur Luo Yuemao, leaders of Shenzhen Alumni Association and Huaihua Alumni Association participated in this research.
Accompanied by assistance task force settled in the village, Village Committee and Branch Committee of Xingdong Village, the leaders of our university and the entourage focused on the inspection of projects such as the construction of tractor roads, forest-roads, selenium-rich industrial base, the pilot area of fish pond transformed from disaster-affected field, reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, village convenience service center, photovoltaic power generation site, etc, to understand the implementation costs, economic benefits and risk prevention and control of these projects.
After the inspection, the University leaders held a symposium with the alumni and cadres of Xingdongcun village, and further clarified the working objectives and ideas of poverty alleviation through settling staff in the village and targeted poverty alleviation, especially clarified the industrial development plan. Meanwhile they also came to an agreement on supporting collective economic projects of the village through the fund channeled by alumni enterprises. The University leaders required the cadres settled in the village systematically carding the new situations, problems, and difficulties in project construction after village combination, report to the relevant department of the government and our university timely for solutions, meanwhile work hard on twinning-assistance to the poor families in Dongyue area which was newly integrated into Xingdong Village.
The University leaders and the entourage also visited the volunteers teaching in Xingjia Primary School, and thanked them for offering care and support to the children in mountain areas. (Text /Zhou Junjun, Liao Xiaoqing)
