Tao Ruqin Was Awarded as One of 2016 Top Ten Educational Figures and Took Over the Top Position in the Top Ten News Figures in Hunan Province

When China Education News Network selected the "2016 Top Ten Educational Figures" on December 29, 2016, Tao Ruqin, a student in our university, was selected as the only student representative. On the list are famous figures such as Yang Jiang, well-known writer, literary translator and foreign literature researcher; Lu Gusun, professor of Fudan University and the editor-in-chief of English-Chinese Dictionary; Chen Shilu, flight mechanics expert of NWPU and the CAE Academician; Li Baoguo, professor of Hebei Agricultural University; Wang Ziqiang, professor of Zhejiang University; Li Yuanfang, the rural teacher from Fengtai County of Anhui Province; Liu Zhanhu, the rural teacher from Baoding City of Hebei Province; Xu Chuan, ideological and political teacher from NUAA, and Han Chunyu, associate professor of Hebei University of Science and Technology, etc.
When Hunan Provincial Department of Education issued 2016 Top Ten News Figures on January 3, 2017, Tao Ruqin, " Female University Student who Walks Into Lepriasis Village", was selected and took over the top position. Together with her are following famous figures such as Cai Zixing, "Founder of Chinese Intelligent Control"; Wu Caiyou, Lu Dequan and Yang Qunkang, "Practitioners of Teachers' Ethics and Family Style"; Shi Xiaoqing, "Campus Security Gatekeeper"; Hu Liangdong and Lian Dingkan, "Excellent Student who Rewrites Physics Law"; Chen Shuguo, "Most Beautiful Xinjiang Aiding Cadre"; Chen Changshi, " Students Aiding Grandpa"; Wen Jiazhi, "Bird Protection Expert"; Zhang Yuan and Zhou Xinghua, "1980s Couple who Take Root in the Outlying Miao Regions", and Li Xianwu, "Rocket Teacher", etc.
As soon as China Education Daily reported Tao Ruqin's deeds on its front-page headlines on November 22, 2016, the widespread and in-depth reaction was caused in the whole society. After that, Hunan Daily, Sanxiang City Express, Xiaoxiang Morning Herald and Hunan Education TV made the follow-up reports. Meanwhile, the Wechat public news of Hunan Education Website, HNUC and other network self-owned media also covered the story to form the on and off line news propaganda tide and establish the strong social influence.
Tao Ruqin was highly praised with respect from all teachers and students by right of her marvellous deeds, and Tang Yayang, Secretary general of the University's Party Committee, Chen Xiaohong, the president, and other leaders had a cordial meeting with Tao Ruqin and her team, and encouraged them to further carry out the volunteer service in the lepriasis rehabilitation villages. The teachers and students, alumni and some parents left messages to praise Tao Ruqin's "beautiful person and more beautiful heart" deeds. The university students self-owned media, "Huxiaogong" and "Youguan" organized to carry out "Charity Sales on Christmas Eve" on December 23-24, 2016.
