Professor Chen Xiaohong Among the Seventh Selected Committee Members of Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education

Recently, Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education announced the name lists of its seventh selected committee members of different divisions, composing members, members of various special committees and the schools affiliated with the divisions according to “Notice of Appointing the Seventh Committee Member of Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education”.

Altogether 381 members are selected in this round, and their names are all announced except 33 members of Division of National Defense Technology as they concern the security of the nation. In the name list, there are 15 experts from Hunan institutes of higher learning, respectively from Central South University, National University of Defense Technology, Hunan University, Hunan University of Commerce, Hunan Normal University and Hunan Agricultural University. Most of them are either academicians in various fields or experts and scholars second to none.

Professor Chen Xiaohong’s  being selected is a breakthrough for our school, and being the only one selected in Hunan Province also marks a gradual manifestation of “Six Heights” achieved in scientific research, service for national strategy and local economy by research team led by professor Chen. It is important to constantly improve the level of scientific and technological innovation in Hunan, to promote “Simultaneous Five Realizations” in Hunan, to advance the development of our school’ disciplines, and to realize strategic objective of “Three Promotions”.

It is reported that 13 divisions are established in Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education, namely, Division of Mathematics and Science, Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Division of Geo-sciences and Natural Resources, Division of Biology and Medicine, Division of Agriculture and Forestry, Division of Environment and Civil Engineering, Division of Materials, Division of Information Technology, Division of Advanced Manufacturing, Division of Energy and Transportation, Division of Management, Division of International Cooperation, Division of National Defense Technology.
