Alumnus Ning Songkai Donated 1.1 Million Yuan to Help Educational Poverty Alleviation in Xinshao County

On the morning of May 21st, the inaugural ceremony of “Education Fund of Gratitude and Dream” initiated by our alumnus Ning Songkai was held in Xinshao County, in which he himself donated 1.1 million yuan. The previous supervisor of our school, Lei Houjian, Ding Chen from Alumni Association, Luo Junqiang, the director of Shaoyang Alumni Association and persons in charge of our school’s education alleviation team to Xinshao village were present. Xiao Feng, the director of Shaoyang Folk Organizations Administration Bureau, Liu Aimin, a member of Xinshao County Standing Committee and Secretary  of Xinshao Political and Legislative Affairs Committee,  Yang Xiaoling, a member of Xinshao County Standing Committee and director of Propaganda Division, Jin Yan, the deputy head of People’s Government of Xinshao County, Yang Dongliang, the vice chairman of CPPCC in Xinshao County and heads from related departments directly under the county including Xinshao Education Bureau, Bureau of Civil Affairs and County League Committee) are all invited to attend this ceremony.

At the ceremony, Lei Houjian introduces the historical evolution and the present situation of our school, emphasizes its “Three Promotions” goal and “ Six Heights” concept, and shows gratitude for Xinshao County’s substantial support to school’s education alleviation team to Xinshao village. He praises for benevolent behaviors of kind-hearted people like Ning Songkai, also points out our school will further strengthen characteristics for education alleviation to play a greater role on serving local economical development and promoting social fairness and justice. In the meantime, he invites the alumni zealously to visit their Alma Mater more often, let more students inherit and share with the enthusiasm, love and entrepreneurial experience of the alumni.

On behalf of Xinshao County Party Committee and Government, Liu Aimin, a member of Xinshao County Committee and the secretary of Xinshao Political and Legislative Affairs Committee, expressed sincere congratulations for the establishment of “Education Fund of Gratitude and Dream”, and showed thanks to HNUC for it plays an unique role in the process of raising money. With a scientific, normalized, branding and sustainable management of the fund, he hoped this program can gather love and goodwill of all sectors of society to help more needy students in rural areas.

Mr Ning Songkai reviewed the preparatory work and major duties of the“Education Fund of Gratitude and Dream” with deep emotion, and expressed his gratitude for the special encouragement and support by the alumni and related heads in Xinshao County. Also he emphasized this fund will focus on the most needy high school students or freshman who are excellent in character and learning on the one hand, and focus on the impoverished rural teachers on the other hand, especially the substitute teacher in poverty-stricken areas.

It is reported that in recent years Ning Songkai and his charity team, through the "1 + 1" twinning funding, has supported more than 600 students in Xinshao County. Many poor students realized their university dreams under his continual funding. (By Zhou Junjun, Wang Bolin)
