Shanghai Alumni Association Held the Second Alumni Meeting

On the afternoon of May 15th, HNUC Shanghai Alumni Association held the second alumni meeting themed with “Go Hand in Hand with Dreams! Shanghai Bund” in Hunan Hall of Shanghai Sanxian Building. More than 120 alumni representatives from all walks of life in Shanghai gathered together to celebrate the event.

School leaders and teachers, including Party secretary Tang Yayang, deputy Party secretary Xia Jichun, Alumni Association secretary general Liu Minghui, Party secretary Du Shenzhong and deputy Party secretary Xu Xu of School of Art and Design attended the event. The president of Hangzhou Alumni Association Gong Haitao, the secretary general of Ningbo Alumni Association Li Chengxiao, the deputy secretary general of Jiangsu Alumni Association Zhanghui also attended this celebration.

President Li Wenfeng who was in charge of thematic planning and inscriptions of the theme of meeting “Go Hand in Hand with Dreams”. The theme signified that Shanghai Alumni Association, as the home of alumni in Shanghai, would always be with those alumni counterparts who worked in Shanghai with no fences in the middle. Shanghai Alumni Association would walk with ambitious alumni and help each alumnus to live up to dreams in Shanghai.

As the meeting began, the school Party secretary Tang Yayang delivered a passionate speech, in which he, on behalf of teachers and students of the school, extended cordial greetings and paid high tribute to Shanghai alumni. He also introduced the great changes of school and school achievements in recent years to alumni and depicted the school’s magnificent goal and blueprint of “Three Promotion”. He said affectionately, that “the alumni are cultural and spiritual heritage and heirs of the alma mater, society’s evaluation of the alumni is to his alma mater, alumni career development need the concerns of his alma mater and the development of alma mater also needs alumni’s support. In the past you took pride in alma mater, but now the alma mater feels proud for you.”

Secretary general of the Alumni Association Liu Minghui read the candidate list of the Second Council of Shanghai Alumni Association, which is passed unanimously. Secretary of School Party Committee Tang Yayang, Deputy secretary Xia Jichun, Alumni Federation secretary general Liu Minghui awarded titles respectively to honorary president, president, executive president and vice president of Second Council of Shanghai Alumni Association.

Reelected president of Shanghai Alumni Association Li Wenfeng gave a speech, in which he reviewed and summed up the main work and achievements of the First Council of Shanghai Alumni Association, looked forward to and planned the future development goals and actions, expressed wholehearted confidence and determination in uniting and serving Shanghai alumni and in sparing no effort to develop Shanghai Alumni Association and to contribute to the development of the alumni as well as the school, and finally  awarded titles to the three contact groups under the Shanghai Alumni Association.

Deputy secretary Xia Jichun expressed full affirmation and heartfelt thanks to the work of the First Council of Shanghai Alumni Association in his concluding remarks. He informed the work situation and thoughts of the general alumni association to alumni in the next phase, hoped Shanghai alumni in the center of the national economy and the forefront of reform and opening up to cherish alumni resources, to better use the platform of alumni association, to strengthen communication and cooperation and to realize common development. He also hoped that the new council of Shanghai Alumni Association would work out innovative ideas and enhance the services, enabling the alumni association step to a new level.

The conference also made a special arrangement for entrepreneurial sharing forum. The six alumni guests at the forum combined their life experiences and entrepreneurial experiences, shared entrepreneurial feelings and answered the problems of the alumni in starting their own business, which received a warm response from the alumni and strong resonance.

Subsequently, alumni also offered various colorful talent shows, amusing pantomime and comedy, melodious bel canto solo, leisure Tai Chi, especially the calligraphy show of President Li Wenfeng, which pushed the atmosphere again to a climax. Cheers and laughters reverberated in the hall. The assembly also set up a charity auction, which put the four pieces of calligraphy work produced by President Li Wenfeng on auction. The funds collected would go directly to Shanghai Alumni Association.

The alumni meeting not only showed the ethos of Shanghai Alumni Association, but also brought a spiritual feast of entrepreneurial dreams to the alumni present. (Report by Shanghai Alumni Association).
