Our University Organized Strategic Seminar for National Natural Science Foundation Research Project “Big Data-driven Management and Decision”

Sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and organized by our university, the annual strategic seminar of 2016 was held in Changsha on April 26 for a major research project supported by National Natural Science Foundation --- “Big Data-driven Management and Decision”. Professor He Minghong, deputy director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, professor Wu Qidi, director of Management Division of National Natural Science Foundation, professor Li Yijun, executive deputy director of Management Division of National Natural Science Foundation attended the seminar in which Professor Chen Xiaohong, president of our school delivered her welcoming remarks and before this, Party secretary Tang Yayang of our school received them.
President Chen Xiaohong warmly welcomed the experts on behalf of the school and introduced our school’s basic situations, its “Three Promotions” strategic goal, the achievements and plans of big data research and management in the past few years, hoping that the frontier vision of this seminar could bring enlightenment and guidance for the construction of “peak and plateau”disciplines in our school.
During the one-day meeting, academician Guo Chongqing and Fan Weicheng of the advisory panel of major research programs, professor Chen Guoqing, head of experts and experts of Management Division had in-depth discussions regarding to annual “Project Application Guide” of 2016, themes and plans of projects for strategic survey in 2016, international cooperation and major issues for the next period, which provided a clear plan and reach a consensus for the smooth development of major research programs.
It is said that the project “Big Data-driven Management and Decision” was approved in July, 2015 with a total capital of 160 million yuan and the implementation period from 2016 to 2023, which mainly studies big data-driven management and decision and looks forward to the cultivation of a number of interdisciplinary personnel and innovative teams, provides management decisions and think tanks in the relevant fields of the country.
As another dramatic technological change in IT industry after the Internet, cloud computing, networking, mobile computing, big data is redefining national strategic decision-making, social and economic management, enterprise management, business process organization, the basic process and the way of individual decisions. Big data is already widely applied to areas like public administration of the government, health care, retails, manufacturing, and services related to personal position and other fields and produced a huge social value and industrial space. Research of big data-driven management decisions will help sort out the complex interaction between the various entities in connection and generate information, knowledge and even wisdom from the network data according to actual needs to achieve the ultimate purpose of making use of big data.
