Professor Cai Jiming, Director of the Center for Political Economy at Tsinghua University Gives Lecture in Hunan University of Commerce

On the evening of April 14, Professor Cai Jiming, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, Director of the Center for Political Economy at Tsinghua University, and a doctoral supervisor gave a lecture titled "Integration of the Two Major Economic Systems Seeing from the Development of Mixed Economy" at the F10 Lecture Hall of Lezhi Building. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Liu Siwei, a First-class Honorary Professor and the Dean of the School of Economy & Trade of Hunan University of Commerce. Teachers and students from the School of Economy & Trade were present at the lecture.

Professor Cai Jiming elaborated the theory and practice of the mixed economy again from 5 perspectives, namely the development of mixed economy in Western countries, development of mixed economy in China, theoretical basis of mixed economy, integration of the two major economic systems, and the basis for the integration of the two major economic systems, generalized value theory. He believed that non-labor factors of production are also involved in the determination of value; the determination of value is unified with the value distribution; non-labor income on the basis of factor contribution does not equal to exploitation; there is no necessary link between the exploitation and private ownership. During the interaction, Professor Cai Jiming patiently explained and answered the questions raised by the teachers and students. Applauses were erupted in the audience for his answer.

At last, Professor Liu Siwei showed gratitude to Professor Cai Jiming for his lecture and gave a brief summary to his views. He believed that this lecture provides fresh ideas and directions, and encourages innovation for teachers and students' academic research.

It is reported that this was the first of lectures given by "Famous Economists" of the School of Economy & Trade, which means that many famous economists will be consequently invited to our school for academic exchange.
