Our School Held the First Hunan-Taiwan University Cooperation and Exchange Meeting

On April 8th, the first Hunan-Taiwan university cooperation and exchange conference was held in Room 401 of the 2nd Office Building. Education experts and representatives from Taiwan Association in Changsha and Cross Strait Academic Exchange Promotion Association and representatives from 12 universities of Hunan and Taiwan gathered to have in-depth discussions about how to set up a normal mechanism of cross-strait universities’ cooperation and exchanges. President Chen Xiaohong and vice president Li Dingjun attended this conference, with personnel from our International Exchange & Cooperation Office and School of International Education presiding over the meeting.

President Chen Xiaohong addressed the conference, giving a brief introduction of our university, expressing that it has been attaching great importance and giving strong support to our international cooperation and exchanges, especially with universities in Taiwan, and pointing out that the two sides should give a full play of our own advantages on the basis of talent cultivation, local economic cooperation and scientific R&D, as well as seize the favorable opportunity during the cross-strait development, so as to promote exchanges and cooperation among higher institutions in mainland China and Taiwan.
Mr. Cai Dongyi, board chairman of Cross-Strait Academic Exchange Promotion Association, made an introduction of six universities in Taiwan, which are Nan Jeon University of Science and Technology, Kao Yuan University, Meiho University, TransWorld University and Tung Fang Design Institute, and conveyed their intention in exchange and cooperation with universities in Hunan. According to Cai, the education cooperation among universities in Hunan and Taiwan has a great prospect with great potentiality, and he hoped that those schools can seize the opportunity to increase contact and eventually reach a win-win cooperation.
The conference was designated to build a bridge for the cross-strait universities to strengthen teaching resource exchange and cooperation. Representatives from Hunan University of Technology, Changsha University of Science & Technology, Hunan University of Science & Technology, Hunan Institute of Engineering, Hunan University of Finance and Economics, and other universities expressed their opinions freely and discussed with their Taiwan counterparts about the future development of cooperative education and potential cooperation mechanism among universities across the strait.
During the conference, representatives reached a consensus on the building of an exchange platform for universities in Hunan and Taiwan. This will be held as a mechanism to jointly explore new paths for scientific R&D and talent cooperation and to make common education progresses in competition.
