2016-01-19
In the past few days, satisfactory results have been gained from the First Session of Hunan Provincial Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest. With 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 5 third prizes, graduates from our school obtained a complete victory. Our school ranks the third only next to Changsha University of Science and Technology and National University of Defense Technology.
This modeling context was held from 9th September to 16th September, with 110 teams from 15 universities across Hunan participated the competition. During this period of time, team members from our school spared no effort to strive for the contest. After examination and selection of the questions, collection of materials, analysis of the questions, construction of the mathematical modeling, programming and writing reports, they submitted their works on 8 am, 16th September. Judges from the committee commented and assessed their works and categorized them in prize classes, and finally organized a defense for the first prizewinners.
Our school has been attaching top priority to improving the education quality of our graduate students by way of competitions. During the contest time, President Chen Xiaohong, and school leader, Yang Hong, attended themselves in person, gave instructions to students before the contest, as well as inspired and motivated them. In addition, to do a good job in organizing this contest, the graduate teachers and students earnestly organized and initiated 10 teams from the 2014 class graduate students. These teams involve 30 students, accounting for 70% in the 2014 class graduate students. Apart from that, school of graduate organized training and employed instructors for those participants.
This contest improved creativity of our graduate students, enhanced reputation of our graduate education, and facilitated the course content and methods of instruction of our graduate education.
