2015 Discipline Construction Meeting of Applied Economics Held

On the afternoon of July 13th, the discipline construction meeting of applied economics was held. The school vice president Wang Minggao, school supervisor Li Zehua, directors of each orientation of the discipline including Liu Siwei, Ouyang Zisheng and Prof. He Tianxiang, and members of the discipline from Financial and Economics School, Tourism and Administration School and Academic Affairs Division attended the meeting. The meeting was held by Prof. Liu Siwei.
The meeting was started with the experience sharing by Prof. Cao Qiukui, Dr. Yang Gang, Dr. Wang Ren and Dr. Ren Jian, who were among the winners of 2015 National Social Science Fund. They illustrated their experience and ideas of applying for the research projects on various aspects including subject selection, structural design, content demonstration, research techniques and basic innovations of the research.
Prof. Liu Siwei elaborated the current conditions of applied economics from scientific research, talent cultivation and the school’s developmental circumstance and pointed out the disciplinary features and existing problems in aspects of orientation, connotation, features, academic team, academic achievements, etc. He emphasized that we should seize the best opportunity for development, revivify the spirit, specify the responsibilities and dare to play. He added that we should make good use of the concluding period of the“12th Five-Year Plan” to construct the discipline and strive to make it into the provincial key disciplines list during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, which would be a new contribution to the school’s “Three Upgrades”.
Prof. Li Dingzhen made a deep reflection of her working experience in our school and laid stress on that she’ll continue to support the development of applied economics discipline in our school after a job transfer to Jishou Universityas as always and build the platform and bridge of academic exchanges between the two schools.
Wang Minggao, the vice president, made a conclusion speech and conveyed president Chen Xiaohong’s congrats and solicitude to the members of applied economics group. Wang fully confirmed the gratifying achievements of the discipline group led by Prof. Liu and organized by experts and professors of each school. He also expressed his earnest expectation to the group from three aspects of serving the school, serving the discipline and self-serving and encouraged the group members arduously make breakthroughs to help the disciplinary construction of the school.
