Chairman of Hunan Culture Development Association gives Speech on Cross Strait Relation

Mr. Zhang Jingyu, Chairman of Hunan Culture Development Association and Cross-Straits Economic Trade Culture Education Association, delivered a speech on June 3rd at Hunan University of Commerce (HUC)’s Lushan Forum. During the speech, Zhang shared his insights on how to untie the knot and bridge the gap between the people in Taiwan and mainland China.

The forum was jointly held by HUC Clean Government Building Coordination Center and Hunan Clean Government Building Research Center and was hosted by HUC vice president Yang Hong. The attendees included the chief editor of Qing Feng Magazine Wang Taili, director of Qing Feng magazine office He Sixian.
Mr. Zhang referred to cross strait relationship as tributaries of a winding river, sharing the same head stream and will eventually reunite into a larger river. Zhang spoke of his 3 “I” solution, namely ideas, interest, and institution. He said the cross strait relation will benefit with people having these three “I” in mind.
At the end of the forum, Zhang answered questions from the students and expressed his confidence in the future development of cross strait relationship.
Zhang Jingyu was born in April 1937 in Hunan Province. Zhang graduated from the law department of Taiwan University of political, diplomatic and political studies. He received a doctorate in political science and comparative law in Columbia University. After returning Taiwan, He served as associate professor and director of Foreign Affairs Department of Taiwan University, director of the Institute for the study of diplomacy and deputy director of the Institute of international relations Professor. Zhang was also appointed as the president of National Chengchi University.
