April 1st, Jia Jianmin, professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) gave a talk on the topic of “from business innovation to management research”, with Hunan University of Commerce (HNUC) vice president Nie Guoqing hosting the event. 

　　During the speech Professor Jia pointed out three major trends of business innovation, namely big data, socialization, and mobilization. He suggested that both traditional and modern trades were starting to look at the possibilities that big data might bring. 

　　“However, we should not collect data without a clear purpose. Data shall be used in a way that can really help us solve our management problems,” said professor Jia.
