1. Upsurge of studying, propagating and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress
From October 16 to 22, 2022, the 20th CPC National Congress, which attracted worldwide attention, was successfully held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The 20th CPC National Congress is a very important conference held at a critical moment when CPC and people of all ethnic groups are embarking on a new journey of building a socialist modernized country in an all-round way and marching towards the second centenary goal. The upsurge of studying, propagating and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress has formed rapidly in HUTB, and the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress has opened new chapter and situation for development of the university.
2. Xiangjiang Laboratory was set up to create a new highland for scientific and technological innovation
On July 10, 2022, Xiangjiang Laboratory, a high energy level science and technology innovation platform in Hunan, led by Academician Chen Xiaohong acting as a director, was first unveiled for construction among the “Four major laboratories” in Hunan. Thirty-two academicians of the two academies attended the unveiling ceremony, and the first batch of 19 academician expert teams settled in the laboratory to carry out innovative exploration. The laboratory of "Information Intelligence and Smart Society" declared by Academician Chen Xiaohong as the director was recommended to participate in the National Key Laboratory and the defense has completed, thus achieving a new breakthrough in the building of national laboratories in provincial universities.
3. Two CPC branches were selected into "Model Branches" of national CPC building and one branch has been successfully accepted
In March, 2022, Faculty Doctor CPC Branch of the School of Science and CPC Branch of CPC Committee Publicity Department were selected into the third batch of "Model Branches" of national CPC building. In June, the Faculty CPC Branch of Logistics Management Department, School of Business Administration, passed the acceptance for the second batch of "Model Branches" of national CPC building. This is a great achievement made by the university since the implementation of the guidance of CPC Building.
4. Research funds obtained by the university reached RMB230 million, and new breakthroughs were achieved in national scientific research projects
In 2022, up to RMB230 million of research funds was obtained by the university, more than double that of last year; the determined technical contract value exceeds 100 million yuan, ranking among the top five universities in the province. The university won many awards such as the first prize of provincial scientific and technological progress; more than 60 policy proposals have been adopted by the state and relevant ministries and commissions. The university was awarded 4 China’s National Key R&D Programmes (NKPs) of the Ministry of Science and Technology; 14 projects from the National Natural Science Fund and 23 projects from the National Social Science Fund, including 2 major projects from the National Social Science Fund, ranking 34th among universities in China and 2nd in Hunan. The number of economic and management projects in the annual projects of the National Social Science Fund ranks first in the province for five consecutive years.
5. Academician team was selected as the "Huang Danian Teacher Team in National Universities".
In January, 2022, the academician team of "Green and Smart Management" of the university was selected into the second batch of “Huang Danian Teacher Team in National Universities" of the Ministry of Education. The team is led by Professor Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and Director of Changsha Artificial Intelligence Social Laboratory, headed by Professor Huang Fuhua, then Dean of School of Business Administration and composed by 26 members from big data management and application, environmental science, intelligent management, green supply chain and other professional directions. The building activity of “Huang Danian Teacher Team in National Universities" aims to organize and guide university teachers and researchers to follow Comrade Huang Danian's example and contribute wisdom and strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
6. The university won the honorary title of “Civilized Campus in Hunan".
On December 30, 2022, the university won the honorary title of “Civilized Campus in Hunan". The creation of spiritual civilization in the university has distinctive features and remarkable achievements, which effectively embodies the consensus of teachers and students in the whole university, strongly promotes the development of undertakings, and has been highly praised by leaders at all levels and experts from on-site inspection teams. Winning the title of "Civilized Campus in Hunan" is a full affirmation of the university’s spiritual civilization construction and comprehensive university-running achievements.
7. Students achieved good results in various competitions
In 2022, our students won more than 210 national awards and more than 660 provincial and ministerial awards in various discipline competitions, achieving a series of new breakthroughs such as the Special Prize of "Challenge Cup" Extra-curricular Academic S&T Competition of College Students (the only one in the province), the Special Prize of “FLTRP Cup” National English Competition for College Students, the Silver Award of "Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of College Students and the first prize of the National Mathematical Modeling Competition for College Students, and won the third place in the first National Beach Football Championships for College Students, the best record in the history of the Provincial Game for College Students.
8. The university took the lead in successfully hosting the 2022 International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology and the 14th China Engineering Management Forum
From November 12 to 13, 2022, the 2022 International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology and the 14th China Engineering Management Forum were held with the theme of "Major Projects and Engineering Management under the Goal of “Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality". Academician Li Xiaohong, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Wang Chen, Academician Wu Manqing, Vice President, and more than 70 academicians at home and abroad attended the meeting, which won wide acclaim and produced model effect. This forum is sponsored by Chinese Academy of Engineering and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and jointly undertaken by Engineering Management Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Management Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China and HUTB.
9. Visiting enterprises to expand posts to promote employment, the employment rate of graduates comes first in the province, and the average cut-off line of undergraduate enrollment ranks fourth and fifth in the province
In 2022, the chief leaders through "Field Visit" and "Cloud Visit” visited Changsha Information Industry Park, Xiangjiang Group, Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industry Park, Changsha National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and more than 100 enterprises such as SANY, SUNWARD, CRCC, China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd, Zoomlion, LENS, TRS, Talkweb, Beijing Jingshi Law Firm Changsha Office, etc. The university has held Special Actions for Secretaries and Presidents to Visit Enterprises and Expand Posts and Special Job Fairs for Well-known Enterprises, Job Fairs for top 500 Enterprises and other campus recruitment activities, and all secondary schools conscientiously guaranteed the employment of graduates. The initial employment rate of graduates in 2022 reached 93.04%, ranking first in the province. The average cut-off line of the general history group and physics group in the province ranks 4th and 5th respectively in the provincial universities.

In 2022, Qizhen Bridge, an overpass across Tongzipo Road, was unveiled and opened, and Lingnan Talent Apartment, Yayun Music Academy, Lecture Hall of North Campus, Modern Logistics Industry-education Integration Center and other projects were built one after another. Greening, beautification and lighting of the North and South campuses are in progress. Moon Island Campus, Teaching Complex in North Campus and New Student Apartments in North and South Campus have been accelerated. The university has successfully obtained RMB120 million from banks to achieve full coverage of WiFi6 and 5G indoor distribution system and build a national demonstration model for the building of "Digital Smart Campus".
